This is a lot more “blobby” than most of the ones I’ve used. My process for testing is to apply it, let it dry for a couple minutes, blot once then blot several times to represent a days worth of eating drinking and lip licking. Anyone with stains on their clothing or carpets would all agree that a lot of these claims to stain just dont hold up. It is semi visible after a few blots(not wipes or scrubs just a touch of a tissue) but i wouldn’t consider it stained as it comes up pretty easily. The blobbing makes it kind of streaky but gives it a more lip stick look and feel but that part comes off very easy. The staining part tints the skin slight but if your lips are a basic lip color and not the color of my wrist you are likely to not notice the color there. It shimmers a bit more than most. Its a nice color. Its easy to apply.

Beautiful color, but don’t wear it as a lipstick right away. It does work best if you put it on and leave it on for a while then wipe The excess off cuz it really does leave your lips stained very nicely and then just cover your lips with a lip gloss for shine. The pigments in it are strong so be careful not to get it outside the corners of your mouth or on the skin around your lips because that will stain too. Only reason I’m giving it four stars is that it would be nice if it had another feature such as smelling good or tasting good or having lip plumping effects, I’m a big fan of multitasking makeup.

I was a bit concerned that the Berry Queen would look too purple, but also knew I needed a bit of that for my cool complexion. It’s a strong color but it’s controllable so I dap some off after applying and leaving for a moment.
I use a little on my cheeks too when I am using on my lips. It does stain tho so blend out ASAP.
I love stains most for my needs and this Elf one as been a godsend as it’s not as drying as any I’ve used before. I also love the Power Mauve, tho I do not feel it looks the same on me as any examples I’ve seen. It almost looks a bit peachy and far less blue than “Mauve” should be and a little lighter than I expected (again, on me at least).
My lips have a more blue/soft mauve tint naturally. Mauve-like colors are what I’ve learned to look for, so this Berry Queen has the right amount of blue to really complement and not look out of place.
I do find this color to be buildable, but the color will wear down a bit to a more subtle “stain” and need more applications to keep bold. Worth it for me because I can’t keep lip color on my lips to save my life.
Side note: I’m all about French aesthetics and being as natural as possible/enhancing natural beauty. So if this is your thing, you may very much enjoy one of these stains!
Reason for my 4 vs 5 stars:
I like the applicator, but the packaging is so freaking wasteful. It’s my primary gripe with Elf in general. If I can find a clean beauty product that works the same (even if at a somewhat higher price point) with less waste, I will switch. I think they could do better.

For this price, you literally can’t beat it! I love the neutral, pink undertone shade “pinkies up”. It’s perfect for an every day look. And I love this color with my olive undertone skin. This lip stain is hydrating and definitely does not dry out my lips. It gives them a nice mild gloss. I just wish they had a bigger version of this product so I could get more at once. I’ve bought like three of these.

I absolutely love the spicy sienna lip stain! When first applied, it feels very rich and moisturizing and the color is beautiful! It is transferrable at first, but once it dries, it is not. The rich, vibrant color doesn’t last long, but it is a beautiful shade even as it dries and becomes more faint.
Some of the pictures show it when freshly applied and others about an hour later where the shade is still visible, just not intense. I normally just throw this on when I don’t have time to worry about lip liner and gloss, but just want something nice and simple on my lips. I apply it quickly without a mirror (hence no lip liner in the pics), and keep some at my desk at work so I can throw it on quickly if I have to run to a meeting and don’t have time for my normal lip combo.
I love it so much that I was inspired to write this review as soon as I applied it this morning. I didn’t have time to apply my normal lip combo and decided to throw this on since I was running behind. I have used more expensive lip stains but always find myself coming back to this one the most frequently.
I highly recommend this for people who want a nice color, without going through the time to create a perfect lip combo.

I absolutely love, love this lip stain! It has staying power and zero transfer, even with me vaping quite often. The color is beautiful, long – lasting, and has a nice shine to it. I tried a bit of lip pumping gloss over it, and it was gorgeous. And it’s also so easy on the wallet, very important to me. Definitely will be buying more of the colors, as well as this one that I have currently, when it gets low.

I tried 3 of these and 2 were hits while 1 went in the trash! They go on buttery-smooth, not sticky or tacky like a gloss at all. I wouldn’t necessarily call them a gloss; more like a satin sheen. As they wear off, they start to feel and look more like a tinted balm. And after that, they leave just a little stain behind. Reapplication is easy. And I love that there’s zero detectable smell or taste. The texture and wear of these remind me a lot of Peripera’s “Ink Mood Glowy Tints” and you can tell they were going for some Korean inspo. The packaging is a bit deceiving, because the actual tubes are tiny. I tried 3 shades: • Mauve: A bright berry-toned pink. Don’t usually go for that color but I do surprisingly like it. This one leaves behind the most detectable stain for me out of the 3 I tried. However, the stain does seem to stick the most along a line at my inner and outer lips, rather than the middle, so after it starts to wear down it ends up looking like I just have lip liner on, which is odd. 3/5 for the way it wears. • Pinkies up: A perfect “my lips but better” color for me. I disagree with other reviewers saying this is “beige.” I would say the photos show it as a baby pink whereas it’s more of a rosy pink IRL – but it’s definitely pink. Because it’s quite close to my natural lip color I didn’t find that this one left behind much of a detectable stain after wearing off. 4/5 because I love the color but it doesn’t stain much. • Cinnamon dreamz: I was most excited about this one because I love a brown lip, but this one went in the trash. It just did not mesh well with my naturally pink lip color, and created a weird blend of sheer brown with my pink lip color showing through. It also settled obviously into the creases of my lips.
