I *think* this works. My dog had bad breath, now he doesn’t, with the exception of first thing in the morning when his morning breath could knock out an entire town with its stench. I thought my dog’s teeth looked bad, but when I asked the vet, he said they’re doing okay and that unlike other dogs he inspects, mine wasn’t making him gag. I don’t brush his teeth (I know I should…) so this is the only thing I can think of that seems to be making a difference.

Don’t buy this product!!! I should have read another review before getting this product. Please read the ingredients before using products for dogs from Amazon!!! the labels are usually incorrect and differ from the description on amazon pages!!
As someone else mentioned “ The active ingredient in this product is 7mg stabilized chlorine dioxide per 5ml (1tsp)
Special Precautions and Warnings
When taken by mouth: Chlorine dioxide is likely unsafe. While chlorine dioxide is safely used to disinfect drinking water, it is used in extremely small amounts. The doses used in supplements can cause serious side effects, including severe vomiting, liver failure, and death. Chlorine dioxide is a bleach-like cleaning agent and, if ingested, can have severe, adverse health effects, including death. The EPA has set the maximum concentration in the drinking water at 0.8 milligrams per liter (mg/L) for chlorine dioxide and 1.0 mg/L for chlorite ion. The concentrations of chlorine dioxide and chlorite ion in your drinking water, however, may be lower or higher than these levels. If you have what is considered to be “city water” tap water may already contain percentages of stabilized chlorine dioxide this could possibly cause severe adverse reactions as adding more to a pet drinking water as a teeth cleaning agent can bring the amounts to alarming rates.
Drinking any of these chlorine dioxide products can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and symptoms of severe dehydration. Some product labels claim that vomiting and diarrhea are common after ingesting the product. Be informed and do research before you add anything to your pets food or water. If the water bowl is the only form of hydration for your pet they have no choice but to drink it.”

My eight-year-old Belgian shepherd had his teeth professionally cleaned about a year ago because they were so stained and there was a lot of plaque and tartar built up at the gum line. Since then, his teeth have started to build up plaque again, they are yellow, and his breath is kind of funky. I figured I had nothing to lose by trying Petlab Dental Formula, but I was dubious about whether it would work. Well, I’m here to say it definitely DOES work, and it’s amazing. We’ve been using it now for a little over a month. Within a week, his teeth were noticeably whiter and his breath fresher. Today I inspected more closely, and there is no build-up along his gum line. Just nice, clean teeth top to bottom. They are not as white as a puppy’s teeth, but I don’t think they ever could be. I mean, he’s an older dog. Like people, his teeth are yellowish. But they are definitely whiter than they were before using the formula, and they are CLEAN. That’s the most important thing.
Some people are apparently concerned that their dogs won’t drink the formula. Have no fear of that. There is no discernible odor. I can vouch for that. I haven’t actually drunk the formula, but I doubt there is a taste since there’s no odor. And my dog literally laps it up. Every morning, I make a bowl of 8 oz. of water and mix in the required tsp of formula and watch while he drinks it so I know he’s had his daily dose. He eagerly drinks the entire bowlful, and then I fill it up to the top with fresh water, which he drinks from all day, filled as needed.
Administering the product is easy, dogs like it, and it works. You can’t do much better than that. The product is pricey, but if it keeps my dog’s teeth clean and keeps us from having to get professional cleanings, it’s worth it.

My dog is 10.5, a Papillon. Small dogs typically have “bad” teeth. I have been brushing his teeth since he was 12 weeks old, sometimes more diligently than others. 4 years ago, he broke 3 teeth requiring dental surgery. The vet dentist advised us to use FreshMouth. A concentrate that you mix with water. This product seemed to do “ok”. There was still some staining but tartar was kept to a minimum and breath was good. He has not required any dental cleanings (the dentist did it while he was out for his surgery but it was not “necessary”). When I saw this product advertised I decided to give it a try. I’m tired of having to keep a gallon of mixed water for my dog in my fridge (the Freshmouth is a concentrate) and the staining is getting worse. So, we are on our 2nd bottle of Petlab and I am thrilled with the results! The staining is almost completely gone and what tartar he had (on one side where the opposing top tooth is gone there is some build-up) is soft and was easily scraped away with a dental tool I have at home. Trent’s breath is better than it was (although it wasn’t bad before, this seems to keep it fresh even after he eats). I see people complaining about the ingredients, but in the amounts that are in this, I don’t see a reason for alarm and it gets diluted again in the water. If you are worried about the ingredients take it to your vet. My dog had no side effects from this product and he has as sensitive tummy as a rule. I just subscribed to get it delivered every month.

I have used this product on a Dutch Shepherd, a terrier, and a chihuahua. Although my DS is gone now, my terrier (12 years old), and my chihuahua (8 years old) have never gotten any plaque on their teeth!! They are still clean and white, and NO, ZILCH, ZERO bad breath. As long as I have dogs I will use this for the protection and dental health of my dogs. I simply add the instructed amount to their drinking water every time I refresh their bowl. Simple, quick, easy. They have never acted as if it has a bad taste. They’ve never rejected it.

Great quality and works perfectly for my dogs.

I had a large rottweiler and this was not workable for her. This would work only for small dogs with small water bowls.

I had high hopes this product would work, or at least help. It was disappointing since over time we noticed no benefits. I was upset we paid a premium price for the product which in our experience seemed to be useless liquid. We used it for 3 mos @ $30.00 for 8oz. As recommended by the The company. Of course they’re going to recommend you buy it again and again @ $30.00 a bottle. We added it to our dogs water daily for 3 mos.. it’s didn’t help reduce the plaque or help her breath.
Customers like you and I know typically, you get a better deal buying a larger quantity of a product. This company doesn’t offer a larger quantity at a better price because why would they? they want you to spend more money for less product. I don’t like that. And…I’m guessing none of us do !
I’m a verified purchaser.

Having said all that, I was surprised to be contacted by the company after they were aware of my experience in my review.
They kindly offered to refund the recent bottle I purchased.
And since that is surprisingly good customer relations, that rates them a couple more stars. Thank you.

I have mixed feelings about this product. It actually works really, really well. My dog is old and Chinese crested’s are known to have really foul breath. His is probably the worst I’ve ever smelled. We do not react but it’s like he knows and I can tell he feels bad. I have gotten his teeth clean and I brush them as well. Dog treats and everything I have purchased that is “natural’ do not work. Ever. I put this in his water and by the 2nd day his breath smelled like wonderful puppy breath. Then before I got excited I said let me look up the ingredients. There are a couple of them that are super toxic for animals. They are listed as the last ones so that tells me there isn’t a lot in the product. There are toxic ingredients in human toothpaste as well. That said… I would be heartbroken if anything ever happened to my vinny. I don’t know that I will continue to use this but If I do. I probably would use it in moderation. I would give it to him on occasion. I am still on the fence about that. I wish they could make it without those ingredients. I am wondering if those are the active ingredients though.:(

This is an excellent product for controlling the dog tartar build up. I’m on my second bottle and my dog’s tartar build up is almost 100% gone. I can forgo his 6-month dental cleaning saving me that expense.

My Chi was 17 when she passed away and she didn’t have plaque. Her vet asked me what I used and said Dixie was the oldest dog she’d ever treated with all of her teeth, had never had a professional dental and her teeth were in amazing condition for her age. I would recommend and am starting on my new 3 year old to get his teeth looking better.

This product really works well for my dog. I ran out of it and didn’t purchase for awhile and I could tell the difference in my dogs . Really freshens their breath. A lil expensive tho.
