The food seems very good in terms of ingredients but my 4m old puppy got ill when she tried the chicken meal. She vomited and started a diaria with blood on the stool. I will wait a while until i consider again
BookLover –
Our best friend loved this. All flavors. High quality ingredients.

This meal topper has been wonderful for my dog’s health and appetite. She has kidney disease and often turns away from her prescription food, but adding this on top made all the difference. I could tell she loved the taste — every time I opened the bag her nose would twitch with excitement, which is something she rarely does anymore in her old age.
The topper smells surprisingly good, almost like human food, and the texture is soft enough to break down easily if needed. It mixes well with her regular meals without making a mess.
The packaging is also very convenient. It is compact, easy to store, and offers excellent value compared to buying similar products in store. Overall, this has been a lifesaver for keeping her meals both nutritious and enjoyable, and I will definitely continue buying it.

My dog really likes the Wallys salmon and rice food. It does work for him and he can digest it and not have any problems. He is part greyhound and seems to be allergic and sensitive to many other brands.

I love love love this food! My dogs (one mini pin and one American bulldog) eat kibble but I do use toppings and mostly I was making my own chicken or beef for them. This is not always convenient so I began to search for a healthy option for my boys and came across this brand. There’s a variety of flavors and my dogs love them all! (Only one we haven’t tried is the lamb but I’m sure that’s going to be a hit as well.) I love that the variety keeps them from getting bored with their diet. For us this food is affordable to use as a topping or mix-in. I love the minimal ingredients and no fillers or chemicals. This brand is now a regular staple in our household and I’m so thrilled that I came across it! Initially I ordered directly from the company but I live far away from Portland so the shipping was a little slow, so I’m super happy that I can get it through Amazon. Also it’s shelf stable until opened so that’s also super convenient. One final comment … Stand back and let the feeding frenzy begin LOL!!

My dog loves this food. The rice makes a nice texture. I do not like the packaging, it’s not resealable after opening, and it’s hard to get all of the product out. I feel like I’m throwing a lot away.
Annie –
My dog loves this food. It is rather expensive so I use it as a topper and it works perfectly. It would be a little more convenient if the pouches were resealable. Excellent ingredients, no junk fillers!

Fulfills expectations! At first glance, I immediately notice how fresh and minimally processed this is! I can see all the ingredients, good texture (yet different based on which flavor you buy). For example, the “Beef and rice” and “chicken and yams” have a much thicker texture, as apposed to the “turkey and yams” and “pork and potato”, which could be better for older dogs or dogs with special needs, because of its soft texture. Not that much protein, so probably best as a topper or mixer for your pup. We purchased this because our picky eater’s just got spayed, and they were having a hard time enjoying their regular kibble. Two packs feeds my two dogs (goldendoodles, 152nd and 35lbs) for 1 1/2 – 2 days, depending on how picky they decide to be. Definitely would buy again if that decide to be difficult about eating for a few days. 🤭
Tip: If you ordered a thicker textured recipe (see above) and you need it to be softer for your pup, I’d recommend adding some bone broth and mixing it up. My fussy mama dog loved it!

These are great. Our dog loves them as a topper on his dry food. Particularly loves the Salmon and Beef.

We have used this for three feedings so far, and our 8 year old Hound has cleaned his bowl enthusiastically each time. We use it as a mixer with his human grade kibble – half a pouch per 1 1/2 cups. We are experimenting with shelf stable pouches and kibble in preparation for a cross country trip where we won’t be able to cook for him or keep enough cooked food with us for the whole of the trip. The way he eats all of his food and doesn’t hesitate, will make our hotel stays easy and keep us on our ten hour a day driving regimen. We love that it is US made and sourced. Nearly all pouch foods in the pet food stores are made in Thailand!! What’s up with that? We only found one in the stores that is made in the US, but with “globally sourced ingredients” which is not always a good thing. We will be ordering a supply for the trip from Portland.

My 14 year old Shih Tzu has been slowly losing teeth over the last few years and finally to a point that kibble has become too difficult to eat. I had already been thinking about changing him to a human grade food but his teeth forced me to make the leap.
I was worried about the digestive problems of changing his food so I started by slowly mixing the wet food in with his dry food, which also made the kibble easier for him to eat. Ultimately, he has had zero digestive issues with this food and he loves the taste. He looks forward to eating again!
I will continue mixing his dry food in for now as long as he can tolerate it. Then I will have him on just this. Since it is much more costly than kibble, mixing it while I still can will help stretch this food out a bit longer and save the wallet a bit.
The food is made from quality ingredients you can see and while I probably would not stick a fork in and try myself, you could!

My fussy dog really liked the beef one. I guess second would be the salmon but other than that the other flavors she could not give a care about.

My dog loves this food. I mix a little with her kibble and she gobbles it down ! I appreciate that she is getting a high quality food product as well. Easy to store, great for travel. She’s also a big fan of the Pumpkin Bisquits!

My picky eater will eat this. I appreciate the simple ingredients, however my dog has had non stop diarrhea while eating this topper so I had to discontinue use. Not worth the price point.

This is the second time I have repurchased. My dog loves it and it’s extra flavor and nutrition for him. Great product!!

The food is amazing and my dog loves it.
It is quite expensive. But my dog is old and he loves it, so I’ll keep buying it for him.

I’ve been ordering this food for my dog for some time now, and she absolutely loves it. I rotate between the lamb, beef, and pork varieties and have been very happy with the quality and the packaging.
My dog does great on it—no digestion issues at all (healthy poop!). I mix it with some dry food from Vital (rabbit, beef and liver), and it works really well. Highly recommend this product.
Cheryl Ann schnase –
So freash..homemade goodness for my pooch! My dog is very picky..she loves this food. She’s also on a limited ingredient dry kibble so we use the pork pot roast for a topper. She will be trying the salmon as soon as it arrives.

Our German Shepherd (GSD) looks forward to eating Portland Fresh Dog food. The pouches make it easy to feed to our GSD, particularly when we travel. The pouches are healthy with human grade quality food.
Storm –
It smells like real food and looks like real food. I like that it is sealed in pouches that have a long shelf life. My pup a miniature poodle loved the taste and he is finicky. He is 12 lbs and each pouch is good for 1 and half to 2 days. So the size of pouches are adequate for him.
He did have a bit of the runs with a couple of the flavors. I recommend start each one slow and a little bit to make sure your pup can tolerate.
The reason I docked it a star is because the meals that have rice I think they go over board on the rice. Making me feel like the rice meals are over priced. Other than that, it’s a very good and healthy food.

My dog has been on the same meal-prep style food for about 5 years and has an extremely sensitive stomach, so I’m always hesitant to try anything new. I decided to try Portland Pet Food and I’m so glad I did.
He absolutely loves it, gets excited at mealtime, and best of all no upset stomach at all! His digestion has been great, and there are so many flavors to choose from. I will definitely be purchasing this food forever!

My dog loves this food. I mix it with a dry kibble. And it smells okay. She’s been on it for at least 6 months. No excessive shedding or shi-pooping. Dog is a 1 year old hairy Corgi.

My pup loves this food I use as a topper to her dry food. Each flavor is heartfully gobbled up! I have a slow feeding bowl ordered because she devours her meal too quickly!

This is the best! I have a #70, 8mos old rescue pup. Only had for about 5 weeks so far but he has already made it clear what a disappointment I am in the kitchen! Plus he has a poultry intolerance (immediate diarrhea) and is pretty picky. I can’t bear to touch that big refrigerated tube of meat that a competitor has – he loved it but too slimy for me! I was cooking ground chuck and rice to mix w/his kibble a few times a week (and I don’t even cook for myself!).
The Rosie’s Beef and Potato is awesome! I use it as an add-in to his kibble. No chicken by-products, so, good-bye diarrhea! The more of the Portland food I use, the less picky he becomes, lol. And no more having to handle slimy dog food for me…yay!
This product is the real deal!

I bought this for my extra picky dog who is having issues eating and he is loving some of them. He prefers the ones not containing rice. Ingredients are clean and healthy. My dog is loving the smell and texture of this topper. Will buy again the ones not containing rice.
Gregory Burton –
Seemed like good stuff, but my dog didn’t like. She’s very food motivated but I’m this case she was not about that life.
Jesse –
I’ve ordered this a few times, although pricey, my dogs both really love the freshness and the taste. I especially love the quality ingredients. I don’t have to worry about their sensitive stomach issues or if they ate because once I put just a scoop or two on top of their kibble, they eat their food right up.
Ellen –
Great food HOWEVER the pouches are not good for me. The product is a bit pricey, which is OK, but getting the dog food out of those pouches is a pain. I aim to get about 4 servings per bag (I refrigerate it) and add to dry food, but having to squeeze it out of the bag is messy. I wish they put it in a jar.

Healthy response – Extra-active behavior (not hyper)-has veggies as well as protein (salmon) – easy on kidneys – after
urinating, no sparkles in the urine if you examine after dries a little – have15 yrs, old dog, have to be careful re kidneys.
Easy to open and administer. Oh yeah – one more thing – dog absolutely loves it.

The quality of the food was amazing! It smelled so good, I probably would have eaten some. My dog loves all the flavors except the beef. I can’t believe it. Great product.

Our pup loves all these flavors! This is a high-quality people grade dog food that is made of real ingredients. Def will be buying again.

Incredible dog food. Highest quality. I used this when my 12 year old dog had dental surgery and needed bite size soft food which this was perfect for! Truly is human quality, good for you ingredients. I can see using this for upset stomachs also.
Burr4and1 –
My dog loves this good and he is a very picky eater. Glad I found this!!
Allison Heinrichs –
Great product! I love that it doesn’t require refrigeration or to be frozen! Both of my dogs loved it immediately and still do after 2 1/2 weeks of eating it as 75% of their meal plan. I highly recommend it to anyone with a picky eater.
Christine Tidey –
We’ve had 2 monthly subscriptions since last year; the variety pack and the salmon. We have 3 hairless Chinese Crested kids; the oldest has frequent skin issues and allergies. We saw an improvement in his skin within the first handful of months, his skin soft and smooth. Our dogs loved them, and the ingredients were identifiable (a rarity in dog food). Combined with an high quality kibble, we felt good about what we were feeding our dogs. Over the last few months, the quality or formula has changed. The pork was always kind of iffy (heated 20 seconds in microwave and it kind of “melted”?). To our surprise, the chicken and turkey packets now have a strong unappealing odor and watery texture, which is gross. I probably wouldn’t have felt that way had I not seen the earlier product. Dinner has now become a chore. None of the dogs wants to eat, which is stressful. Just cancelled both subscriptions. Super bummed because I felt good about this company. Knocked off one star because we loved it for several months and the salmon still looks human grade. Based on the quality of the last few variety pack shipments, I would give 3 stars.
