This book is a nice read for beginners and other advanced alike. It covers the different types of runes as well as their history and uses. Also has spells/rituals in it. I especially love the part on how to create a personalized sigil, how to use it and what they are. That was a bonus I did not expect.
The only downside is that the book pages are not evenly cut and a bit jagged on mine. Not worth returning/exchanging as it doesn’t bother me much at all.

A nicely written and formatted guide to runes. Its title refers to it being a complete guide to the divination of runes however, it goes further than this providing historical background for numerous different runes and details of divination spreads. It also goes beyond divination and references using them in modern witchcraft (including spells), all of which proved helpful to me. If I had one criticism, I would have said this was a “beginner” guide rather than a “complete” guide. This may seem like splitting hairs but if you’re an experienced practitioner of runes you may be disappointed. All-in-all a very well-written and considered book – I especially liked the differentiation of ancient and modern-day practices and how they should not devalue or distract from each other but stand tall in their own right (I paraphrase).

I wasn’t sure about this book as I knew nothing about Runes, but what I did know is that Nock is a fabulously readable author and makes every one of her books accessible to the lay person. I greatly enjoyed this book, and learning about runes, even though I’m not sure being a rune reader is in my future!
