How to Prevent Fleas, Parasites and Illness in Your Pets

Fleas are parasites, and parasites are attracted to the most vulnerable hosts first and foremost. Simply by making a few changes in your pet’s diet, you can dramatically reduce their likelihood of getting fleas in the first place.

Always remember that prevention is a better solution than waiting for the problem to get out of hand and treating it later! It costs a lot less, too.

Natural Flea Control Solutions That Are Fast, Effective and 100% Safe

Many conventional “flea treatments” are really just toxic pesticides that can make you, your pets and your children sicker rather than healthier. Instead of using these toxic flea control chemicals, you can use dozens of totally natural, totally safe treatments that kill fleas fast and don’t harm you or your pets.

A brief but very informative read. How to help your pets be flea free without chemicals while improving the underlying health.

This is seriously dated. Two obvious problems: there is no statistical data, and the author recommends essential oils without warning that some are deadly toxic to cats. I would recommend going elsewhere for your information.

This is a great book for people who want to avoid potentially harmful chemical flea treatments. It has many good ideas for natural flea removal products and also for strategies to keep your dog or cat flea free by improving their overall health status.

This book lists various sources and approaches for fighting fleas naturally. I love her holistic approach to pet health; it’s the way I want to go for treating our pets.
Since we’re facing an unusual and sudden flea infestation despite using Frontline and Advantage, I feel more hopeful that we can combat the fleas after all. I never liked using topical pesticides on our pets, but this year, it is not working at all! Time to try a different approach, and also one that is kinder to our pets.
I hope her suggestions will work, but we will certainly try.

The book is an easy, fast read, so you can’t go wrong reading it if you’re struggling with fleas.

I haven’t tried everything yet, but it has given me hope I can do something. The flea treatment from the vet, even months later when handling cats, attacked my nervous system and almost made me blind.

Best natural care for cats and dogs I have found. I loved the info on organic foods for pets. I dog sit for two Chihuahuas. They were constipated, were scratching, and one obviously in pain. As I eat organic foods, I decided to feed them same diet after reading this book. The results were almost immediate…they are like young pups again. I would love source for printed book.

Over the years, I’ve tried chemical and herbal flea treatments for the menagerie (4 dogs, 3 cats). The chemicals are too toxic and the non-toxic products often didn’t work. That’s because I was doing it wrong!

In Fleas Be Gone, Dr Chambreau provides a clear overview of how — and why — to use non-toxic products, as well as the surprising reason some pets are troubled by fleas while others aren’t. The book is short and very reader-friendly, with lots of information about safe, new products to try.

I am so grateful to have found this terrific book, because it will make my pets healthier, without poisoning them or the environment. Here’s hoping Dr. Chambreau keeps writing and providing more excellent information to pet lovers!

This book is an effort by a Holistic Veterinarian to offer very few methods of dealing with fleas. Since the flea burdens are quite different in different parts of the country, perhaps this book relays success for the midatlantic states but these methods have proved pretty much unsuccessful in the southeastern portion of the US where fleas are significantly worse. There could have been a very easy to understand life cycle of the flea diagram also listing the different diseases that come with fleas like the parasite tapeworms. Another diagram could have been used to show the 4 zones for implementation of flea control and to list the successful natural products useful for each zone. I came away not understanding what the author referred to as “deep health” and felt the book never came clear on defining the reasons the immunity of the pets was undermined by certain factors such as the lack of optimal nutrition-feeding the companion carnivore appropriately and how vaccinations removed the healthy TH 1 cellular immune bias necessary for dealing with parasites. The garlic suggested for cats and dogs is on the Pet Poison Hotline list and I feel readers will be confused as to why this book doesn’t address why the Poison Hotline would view the feeding of garlic to cats and dogs differently. Also, studies have shown that the level of nutritional yeast needed to be fed in order to get fleas discouraged would be too high to not also cause allergies and the length of time needed to employ this before any reaction was not shared with the reader. One of the reference veterinarians listed Dr. Don Hamilton is on record stating at best only 20% of the pets might benefit from these “natural” products. I have found studies showing that neither actually do work. Also essential oils are broken down with UV light very quickly that is why they are sold in dark bottles. Once applied to the skin of pets or humans, it is the carrier oil that determines the time they remain affective. At best experts in the matter relay a time of 6 hours and that was not what the book defined. There is also a lot of disagreement over the safety of essential oils with cats. One of the products recommended used lemongrass and cinnamon essential oils in a wipe and both of those essential oils are highly dangerous to use on cats. Additionally there were several references to obtain a journal for documenting the use of natural products on the pets and the reader should be alerted that this a purchase product for just under $20 and not a free resource. As well, there is quite a bit of difference in the safety between the 2 cedar oils recommended with only one of them being safe for use on cats according to the label. All in all, I wouldn’t be delivering these methods of “natural flea control” to the reader mainly due to lack of effectiveness-at least in the portion of the country where fleas are a really big problem and almost year round. The lack of resources for other types of inside environment like without carpets left no options . The lack of education of the different flea vectored diseases that your family could encounter was not brought forth. The fact that there are some useful natural products to deal with these diseases like tapeworms was important missing information as well as natural flea foams that could be used even on puppies and kittens less than 4 weeks of age and less than 2 pounds in weight. The book as is is “just okay”. Don’t look for any prize information here as you won’t find it.
