This was actually surprisingly pretty good for the price. I overlooked this because of the price, PLUS the fact that the last time I tried a cheaper Amazon brand ground coffee. It was so disgusting, that I ended up throwing the entire bag away the same day I got it. It was THAT bad. It tasted like woodchips mixed with cardboard. Tasted nothing like coffee.
This one is supposed to be certified organic non-Gmo. Compared to the other. Which is what I tend to stick with most of the time as it just simply tastes better.
I simply could not afford any more of my previous coffee grounds. Things are extremely tight. So I looked at this and the ratings. Generally I go for basic medium roast. However I do like Sumatra, and though Sumatra is generally listed under dark roast, I’ve had Sumatra listed under medium roast.
Seeing that the medium had acidity to it, and it was described as tart. That is a huge No-No for my taste. As I prefer deeper, richer, and more chocolatey undertones to my coffee. I hate fruity acidic coffee.
Sumatra is supposed to have that. So even though I generally do not get dark coffee in fear of it just tasting like burnt ash. I went with it.
I will say this, if Amazon doesn’t price gouge me in the future. And suddenly Jack the price up to like $14, like someone else said they did to them ( it’s already increased a dollar in less than 24 hours after buying it) .
Then I will return and stick to this until I have more money to afford a higher quality one.
However this one is acceptable. It does have a mild chocolatey like undertone to it. But it’s not as strong and rich as some that I’ve had before that were more expensive. But it’s good enough to satisfy me. It has an acceptable bitterness to it, maybe a little bit more than I would prefer. But again it’s acceptable. I like a mild amount of bitterness as it helps with the illusion of a type of dark chocolate flavor.
I agree with someone else, that you might need to add a little extra more depending on your taste to get the flavor you want. The Best Brands that I had required much less and were very concentrated. So if you want to make sure you have enough flavor. Make sure you add extra, more than your default higher quality one.
I do get the complaint about packaging. Mine came with some grounds that had escaped out of the bag. Via the little hole in the front. It also just opened up really weird and was a struggle. I had to end up cutting it open and then being creative with it to close it back. Thankfully mine did not taste stale. But I will take the measures that I need to to keep air from getting to it and ruining it.
Again amazon, if you do not Jack the price up. I will stick to this brand for right now as an affordable brand of coffee. Because Lord knows I cannot afford to spend 15$ to $24 a bag for coffee anymore. However I can afford $6.

I love good coffee, and there’s a huge difference to what makes it that way, to be a healthy drink, especially to start the day off with!! So excited to discover Peruvian Coffee here, it’s a family favorite, low on that acidic stuff in the stomach, very comfortable to drink, easy to brew and a beautiful medium brown roast color, scent and flavor, smooth totally, it’s in a class of it’s own, I am here to stay and will be getting more. Please don’t miss this extremely enjoyable coffee,

This is very good coffee. I cold brew it and it tastes great. Organic is healthy and at $6+, it’s a very good deal. I’m not in the $26 a pound coffee range. Tariffs or just gouging – that’s too much.

I love this coffee. It’s bold, rounded and has a beautiful flavor.
I have 8 coffee trees and I still purchase this coffee.
I also like to support Organic as they chemicals used on “regular” coffee is
tox!c. You will enjoy this, it doesn’t have that acidy flavor.

Coffee prices have been high lately, so I decided to try this coffee since it’s organic and like half the price of most organic coffees. It’s actually pretty decent coffee. I prefer medium roast, but for a dark roast it isn’t too bold. I’m getting used to the stronger flavor and how to adjust my ratios to make it work. I do pour over, so adding just a little less grounds makes a more medium flavor for me. Will keep buying. It has good flavor and I don’t find it to be bitter at all.

This coffee is delicious! Great replacement for Starbucks Sumatra coffee and a better price.

I really expected this to be low quality due to the price, but this is excellent coffee! Smells and tastes great. Appears to be clean and organic ingredients. Very fresh. I will definitely order again.

This is a really good dark roast quality. It has a dark chocolate taste to me. Gives good energy. I like that it is organic and says it is fair trade. I love the good price as well. I hope it remains at the same good price, so that I can keep it as my regular brand of coffee to buy. The packaging is convenient and great for resealing for freshness . I have bought 2 bags so far, and intend to buy 2 more when I run out as long as the price doesn’t increase.

This Organic Sumatra is not bad at all! Very smooth. There is no leftover bitterness after drinking.
Since the 80s, I have been drinking Peet’s coffee, and I cannot drink bad coffee. To be honest, I did not expect much from Amazon brand coffee. But I decided to try it since it is organic and Sumatra, which is the least acidic and safer for gastritis in comparison. It is very economical, and there was nothing to lose. I am so glad I decided to try it!
I mainly use a Melitta. 1 cup of coffee means 3/4 cup in the measuring cup. They somehow do not measure the same way. I simply use 1 Melitta scoop for 1 cup of coffee.

I used to have Starbucks coffee on my subscribe and save, which I was getting about 32oz for ~$13. But, they raised the price 50%. So I chose this Amazon Fresh Sumatra as a replacement. I actually think that this is a better coffee. It makes a nice strong cup of coffee, without being overly acidic. It has a decent kick of caffeine without being overly strong. Overall I prefer this coffee over the previous blend coffee. And it is Organic and Fair trade, which I’m not sure my previous coffee was. Also, the previous coffee came in one 2-pound package, and this is in three 12oz packages, which I think keeps the coffee fresher.

Price increase made this not worth it. The smell is barely there, the taste is subpar. It doesn’t give me horrible headaches like Folgers or Maxwell house but the price puts it right next to some really good organic coffees. Might stop buying this.
