As someone who values a holistic approach to health and wellness, I am always reading and learning. I keep a personal apothecary and grow my own herbs and plant remedies. I found this book to be comprehensive and well-written. While it provides great insight into the benefits of herbal and natural remedies, the book also highlights the other essential components to health: a healthy diet with minimal processed food and sugar, exercise and motion, as well as stress management. The author addresses holistic management of everything from gastric issues to headaches and skin care. As a women’s health nurse, I found the chapter on managing women’s exclusive issues. It was sound in medical science and comprehensive is options for managing hormone balance, menstrual problems, fertility, pregnancy, post-delivery and even menopause. Every recommendation made is grounded in evidence-based fact. If you are looking for an alternative to western medicines, pills and treatments, this book is a great place to start. It provided the information, the science behind it and the steps needed to build your own apothecary of holistic alternatives.

I really like how the is book is laid out in sections and the instructions are easy to follow. The only thing i might change is to perhaps bold the first few words of each paragraph where it talks about individual remedies that way you can find the specific remedy you need a little faster. All-in-all a good, well-rounded book.

This is definitely a great book of needed knowledge for the times we are living in. I try to learn more natural and homeopathic ways to conquer healthcare. I worked in an ER during Covid and it changed everything I knew about healthcare, doctors, and big pharmacy. This book will get you pretty far. I suggest a read through and don’t be afraid to take notes!

As a newbie to this field, I found this book to be very interesting and informative. I knew that you could make dandelion tea and stuff like that, but this goes way beyond that. Excellent reference book, I have recommended it to a relative who grows herbs for medicinal reasons on her organic farm, and an herbalist friend for her reference shelf.

This books contains good information on herbal remedies but it was not what I was looking for. I feel books on herbalism should have photographs somewhere in the book. This one did not.

Definitely has some good info, a great beginner’s guide

The book was well written but was really more of an introduction as to what is available in the natural and herbal world rather than a how-to, which is what it seemed to be by the description. (As an example, if you took an aeronautics mechanics class to begin to learn how to fix planes but the class was nothing but the models of planes and what they did from kittyhawk on). It was took long for an intro but didn’t contain the info a book normally would.
