This is hands down my go-to lip balm. I’ve tried so many—Burt’s Bees, Vaseline, CeraVe ointment, and even Aquaphor Lip Repair—but nothing compares to this. It lasts for 12+ hours and provides amazing, long-lasting hydration that really heals dry, cracked lips.
What I love most about Aquaphor Healing Ointment is how versatile it is. I use it not just on my lips but also on dry patches anywhere on my body, especially in colder months. It creates a protective barrier that locks in moisture without feeling greasy or heavy.
I actually have both the CeraVe ointment and Aquaphor, and while both are amazing for skin repair, I find myself reaching for Aquaphor more often. The texture is easier to apply smoothly, and it just lasts longer throughout the day, which makes a huge difference.

I often carry Aquaphor around and put it on my lips when they are feeling dry. A little bit goes a long way, and one small tube seems to last forever. I have had the same tube in my bag for months and it barely looks like I have used it.
It is very occlusive. It locks in moisture and creates a barrier that protects the skin underneath. For my lips especially, nothing else works as quickly or as effectively. When my lips feel cracked or sore, I will put a thin layer on at night and by morning they are so much more hydrated.
I have tried a lot of lip balms and ointments that either sit on top and do nothing or soak in too quickly and leave me dry again an hour later. Aquaphor does both. It seals in the moisture but also helps heal at the same time. It is not a fancy product, but it works better than the trendy stuff I have spent way more money on.
The texture is thick. It is easy to spread in a thin layer, but it does leave a greasy residue behind on the skin. It does take a long time for it to soak into the skin. It gives a subtle shine to my lips when it is applied. I also use it over dry patches on skin or cuticles.
It is one of the best products in the drugstore aisle. It is affordable, multi-purpose, reliable, and effective.

When I was on Accutane, nothing else helped those extremely chapped lips except for Aquaphor. Not Vaseline, not Chapstick—nothing. I’ve been under massive stress and got eczema really bad on my fingers. So I read that I needed to repair my skin barrier. So this lotion really helped me. I was using cortisone 10 and that helped but this was a game changer. I apply this whenever I wash my hands and I use it whenever my hands feel dry. The eczema is totally under control now. I adore this product. You get a huge amount for the $. You only need the tiniest amount and it helps so much. I got the tube and it’ll last me forever I feel like. My face started peeling horribly for no reason and for no explanation. Dermatologist attributed it to stress and prescribed a cream and told me to use Aquaphor on top of that. I saw a change within 24 hours. I’ve started using this also as a lip balm and it lasts a lot longer than any other lip product. This is not sticky and moisturizes well. Great product, highly recommend.

Post-ankle surgery, the skin on my foot became thick and leathery. I was horrified at how it peeled off in little pieces.
Despite not being a fan of ointments, I read the reviews for this product, and they were so good that I ordered some, and gently rubbed it into my foot at night. Within a week or two, most of the “leather” on my foot peeled off and my feet began to look pink and healthy, better than they had before surgery. There was no sting or smell and a little went a long way.
A couple of months ago, I had more surgery on my foot and when I removed the ace bandage post-op, my foot was very dry again. The Aquaphor ointment is already fixing that.
It’s not expensive at all, and it works extremely well. What more can I ask for? If you have very dry skin, try this ointment. I found it amazingly effective.
