I was pretty excited about getting this for a grandson who I thought would really enjoy it. It does look a little creepy but isn’t exactly easy to identify as a crow. It is loud enough, but my understanding is that Aztec death whistles usually sound like someone screaming. You have to use a pretty good imagination to identify a scream when blowing on this. Blowing hard does help but it just doesn’t quite get there. It just makes kind of a loud, weird noise.
On a positive note, it does come in a cute little box, complete with fun neck cord and storage bag. It also might make a fun white elephant gift!

This whistle is plenty scary looking but I was looking specifically for the unique sound of the Aztec death whistle. This isn’t it. It barely makes a whistle at all unless you blow as hard as possible and it’s definitely not the sound these should have.Â
