It’s a cute piece that my wife (teacher) uses on the playground to get the attention of her class.

The wooden box that it came in was different than the one pictured but that did not bother me because I actually use the whistle. Two thing about this whistle I don’t like which is why i’m giving it 3 stars. The tone will not drop as low as most Bosun pipes do which was the biggest upset to me. the chain it hangs from has a very cheap ring as well and it has fallen apart on me a few times. a little bit of solder fixes that problem though. over all I like the whistle a lot and it helps me at my work. Its nice to have a nautical whistle when you are on boats all day and everything else is just a standard whistle. it really stands out and is almost always heard when it needs to be.

Good loud single-tone whistle, in a superb brown- wood case, probably black walnut, interior 1 x 1 x 5.2 in, exterior 1.75 x 1.75 x 5.5.7s, hinged, with interior foam padding to snugly nest the whistle. Whistle did not sound as received, but an easy and slight bend of its blow-pipe allingned the pipe with its sounding “bell” and restored it to excellent volume. Thw whistle comes with a brass chain about 1/8 in. wide in total and at length 30 inches forms a 15-inch loop for neck wearing and use of the whistle.

Very nice box. Whistle is just like the one I had in the Navy 20 years ago. Chain is pretty cheap though.
