This terijaki chicken bowl is fully cooked and ready to eat. You can heat it up on the stove or microwave for 1-2 minutes in a separate bowl. I microwaved it for one minute. The results on this are split in my home.
My 2 kids and spouse find it palatable, commenting it would be good for camping. One of my kids says it’s too strong of a flavor and needs extra rice and chicken to balance out the flavor. I have to agree with that statement. Along with that opinion, I find the teriyaki flavor too sweet for my personal taste. The rest of my family doesn’t think it’s too sweet.
The bowl doesn’t look so appetizing when you are dumping it from the container in to a bowl. I guess most things from cans and such doesn’t look as appetizing as homemade food. The overall texture is softer and porridge like in my opinion. The chicken pieces are pretty small and blend into the rice. The photo shows individual ingredients, but it looks like a porridge. The overall portion size is ok for me, a petite adult. I think a full size adult may need a bit more than one container.
I like the box container and wooden sporks that come with this. I do think these are pretty pricey at $6 a container.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by these ready to eat meals. Texture was very good, the brown rice had a nice chew, which I was concerned would be mushy but it was not. Portion size was adequate for a lunch or as a main entree for dinner with a side added. Really enjoyed the flavor and level of spice. It was warming on a chilly day and my kids also liked it! So simple to heat up, just put in a microwaveable dish for 2 minutes and I had a great lunch at work! Would definitely order again!

This is the best on the go meal option out there. The brand name is right. Love the simple packaging, simple heating up method, simple ingredients, and taste along w good nutrition. There are a lot of easy meal, one bowl type food but either they are too high in carbs or sodium or both. I would definitely try other flavors and wish to see more varieties of Born Simple.

I would have given this negative stars if I could. Other than the fact that Amazon delivered this and left it on my porch without notification which I had requested, allowing it to sit out there for untold hours, the macaroni and cheese was terrible. It was like macaroni with yellow paste. I took 2 bites and threw it out. I ordered that as part of a 4-pack of dinners, but I will probably throw the others out, too. Do NOT recommend.

I really love that there are 22 grams of protein in this chicken bowl. It was a tasty dish, but maybe a little on the sweet side. To me it didn’t seem to be too strongly Thai flavored – it was light on the seasoning, but it is still a tasty and healthy meal!

I was expecting these to be spicy due to “Thai” in the name but it was pretty bland. It is a thicker stew style meal with an ingredient list that is not that strong in the flavor. Overall I thought this was pretty bland. It is filling, shelf stable and portable, which I like.
The calorie content is high, there is a butter and coconut cream in the mix so that must be why. The chicken is also just
tiny chopped pieces here and there. An okay product but I probably wouldn’t buy it again.

I got these on sale and took them to work for the days I didn’t bring a lunch. The packaging is convenient for storage and shelf life. Easy to open, it didn’t require scissors or anything. I tried the Mexican-Style Chicken Rice Bowl. It’s very similar to a MRE when you take it out of the original packaging. The flavor isn’t quite there, but like most MREs, be prepared to add your own hot sauce. The portion size is great and is filling. The people that complain about it being the worst ever, it isn’t, they were Air Force their entire career, the rest of us had much worse. It’s cheaper at Wally World than on here. It’s a good alternative when you can’t leave your desk.
