The quality and workmanship are superb. I had already stripped my bed this morning, waiting for my new pillowcases for two of my pillows to launder my bedding.. I was anxious to receive these pillowcases and if for some reason they weren’t going to work, I was going to have to launder the rest of my bedding without them and continue to look for other options. However, I was blown away by the packaging these came in and then the feel of the fabric and the great workmanship sealed the deal, so I immediately added them to my bedding pile and threw them in the washer.. these pillowcases actually made me want to buy two more queen size pillows, so I can buy another set of these pillow covers

Hotel quality means nothing to me. I have stayed in some very fine hotel with thick crisp cotton sheets. My sheets at home were always way softer. Unfortunately, I can’t find those sheets or comparable quality anymore.. I have stripped some of the beds in these hotels to find out the mattress brand they use when they are exceptionally comfortable. I have resigned myself to California Design Den due to the price point and decent quality while I continue my search. I have purchased several sets from California design den and one stands out for softness and I can’t figure out which thread count it was. So I am buying pillow cases vs the whole set to figure that out and then buy another set. The 600 thread count wasn’t it. My test of true softness is how it feels on my face. I have even tried silk, but those fall apart quickly with frequent washing. I really miss my other sheets that don’t exist anymore. They were cotton sateen, but the softness varies significantly of what companies are calling sateen. It would really HELP if they would put the thread count on the label for reordering purposes. For customers who experiment with the different thread counts.

These are fabulous pillow cases. They wash well and are soft and comfortable. My over a decade old pillowcases finally wore out and I feared I wouldn’t find any to replace them that were great quality. But I hit on these the first try. I’m glad I found them. My old ones were made in India and I hoped for the same and I got lucky. These are also made in India. I slept great my first night using them. 100% cotton keeps me cool and comfortable. I look forward to many years with these pillowcases which seem as durable as my last ones were. These have a normal opening that I like, not the envelope type. I picked a color to coordinate with the rest of my bedding and these work perfectly.

This is my second purchase of the 600tc 100% cotton sateen sheets. They are really great quality. They feel a little course when first out of the box, but soften up so well after the first wash, and then continue to soften with each wash. Fit is great, with all-around elastic to keep the fitted sheet secure and the top sheet is actually large enough to cover the mattress (my previous mattress was 14″, current is 10″). On top of that, they’re about half the cost of the same type of sheets at Macy’s and JC Penny at their sale prices. The only draw-back I can think of is if you don’t remove them from the dryer immediately, they do wrinkle (they are smooth cotton, after all). If you remove and fold them immediately, they’re fine – they’re just going to be slept on. I will definitely be buying these again in the future.

Update – The pillow cases have softened well with washing. I rotate 3 sets of sheets changing every week so roughy 35 washes now. Seams are starting to give on one pillow case but no pilling, color fadeing or discoloration. Fabric is smooth not silky not quite crisp nor overly hot. I’m at 30 pillow case trials and counting, trying to find good sheets. I’ve been looking for, Not made in China and OKEO-TEX 100% cotton, a desent weight with smooth almost silky cool feel. Trying to replace Palais Royale 100 % Supima cotton sateen 630TC from BB&B they are almost 15 years old and about to the end of there life. So far these are some of the best I’ve found for the price on Amazon. 3 stars not 4 because I don’t care for the cheap looking design and the seams are coming apart after 2 years. I also have the California design den 1000TC in Dark grey they are soft and cozy, I prefer these as they are smoother and cooler. Back to update and order the sheets.
2020 review – I have been on a mission to find quality resonably priced sheets on amazon! So I’ve stated ordering pillow cases to test them out first.
These pillow cases Right out of the box they are not the right color. I ordered dark gray and they say dark gray on the box. However these are more of a light gray. They are pictured with a medium gray sonoma quilt from kohl’s and the dark gray/charcoal Mayfair qeen 500tc 100% cotton pillow cases(Mayfair smelled btw returned).
The seam edge is complete low quality trash no details or fold over just a straight double stitch that when pulled you can tell how weak it is. There is a small fold over on the inside of the pillow case? The 3rd pillow case in the seam picture is beige/tan from BB&B for color reference.
Positive the fabic does feel okay and no chemical smell. They are also a decent size.
Made in India 100% cotton Oeko-Tex made green. Machine wash warm tumble dry low like sheets should be.
I’ll keep them for color contrast and update on quality after washed and used.
