This tarot deck definitely has its own vibe and I like it. There were two things I was worried about that did not end up being a concern. One, I thought that the dark colors would make these dull and flat. Instead, the artwork pops by using light and subtle color in very effective ways. The second concern was the overall dourness in the few images I saw prior to opening. I thought everything was going to be drenched in a bit of the sads, but there were appropriate (albeit muted) expressions throughout. Overall, the artwork is just wonderful and rich.
The card and holder quality is great! They are high gloss and the gilded edges also have a prismatic effect which makes them stunning. Easy to shuffle, with only a bit of cling at the very beginning. They do not slide around, despite that stellar gloss. The case is just gorgeous. The inside of the box is decked out in a full moon image.
While I am keeping these at 5 stars due to the good price and phenomenal quality, there are a few things of note. The lesser of the two, the booklet is not ideal. Booklets that come with a deck are mostly afterthought now, however. I have only found a few that are worthy of cracking more than once. This one is tiny, hard to open, and contains a simple, structured upside right/upside down meaning. Little room for interpretation. To me, this is no big deal.
Lastly, the “strength” card is labeled as “the strength.” I have never seen it this way. Is it just me? Maybe. I don’t hate it though. Maybe it needs to be put on a pedestal as “The Strength” like the rest of the major arcana. The included book just has it as “strength”, so I think it was unintentional.
I have to say, I am quite happy with these over all. The price is great, the quality is amazing, and they are just beautiful! Possible room for improvement, sure (I wouldn’t have chosen the devil for the cover, for instance) but these have a phenomenal look that I have truly enjoyed working into my readings when I want a certain tone set.

This deck definitely feels well-made and sturdy. The cards are heavy, crisp and clean feeling, although they are a bit hard to shuffle for my small hands, due to the size and thickness. They do come in order, so will need a very good mixing up before the first use. I was impressed by the holographic edges, which really adds a high-end touch to the deck. The box it comes in is also heavy and sturdy and seems like it would hold up to quite a bit. I am not big on the artwork on the front of the deck and did find it to be a bit off putting at first glance.
The rest of the art is very dark but beautiful. It does hint of AI art, and I suspect it may be, which I very much do not prefer in place of real human art. Further information about the art if not, would be ideal. The booklet with explanations about each card is pretty in depth compared to others that I have seen.
Overall, for the current price of just under $19, this is a good deal for this deck. It was just under $36 when I ordered it originally, so it has dropped almost halfway in price since then, which is pretty disappointing for me. For the $36, I would not recommend, but if it stays at under $20, it is a decent deck for that price.

These cards are THICK! I anticipate this deck will last me a long time. Honestly nothing I dislike!!

These tarot cards are stunning. The artwork is rich and atmospheric, and the dark fantasy style feels cohesive across the entire deck. The cards themselves feel solid and well made, with a smooth finish that shuffles nicely and gold edges that add a premium touch without feeling fragile. Everything about this deck feels intentional, from the weight of the cards to the presentation, and it is a pleasure to work with whether you are reading or simply admiring the art. Size is perfect and the included guidebook with instruction is a great addition.

I love tarot and trying out new (to me) decks. The CRAFTERIAN Mist of Shadows Tarot – 78 Cards Deck with Guidebook caught my eye. I have a few Crafterian decks already, so I needed to add this one to my collection. I haven’t read with them yet; however, upon first handle, it is a vibe. Excluding the Sun card, the cards are dark and gloomy with a limited color palette, yet they look really good in photos. The cards are surprising in that they are thick, with gilded edges, but are not as stiff as I anticipated they would be. They are going to be a bit rough on my fingers until I can break them in, but it won’t take as long as some other thick, gilded decks I’ve had in the past. They are a typical tarot size, and if they are like my other Crafterian decks, they are durable. The guidebook is pretty bare bones, which is not a bad thing, just different. I like that there’s a bit of encouragement in the beginning, and it provides both upright and reversed meanings for all cards. There’s enough there to get a beginner started, but it doesn’t go over any symbolism, leaving that interpretation up to intuition. I like the box, as the scene continues on all sides. At the $18.90 price point (at time of order), it’s a great price for quality cards. I am interested in discovering how these will read and will update my findings.

This is a very cool dark fantasy-themed deck, and the designer did a really good job. For a tarot deck, it delivers. It kept much of the symbology of the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, so if you already know how to read the cards and are familiar with traditional tarot, you’ll be able to use this deck immediately.
The cards come in a typical but nice and well-designed solid card box. The instruction booklet is fine, but nothing special. It gives more of a single interpretation, as though reading for a specific person. It does include upright and reversed, but I don’t find it useful, and there are better tarot books out there.
The real treasure here is the cards. The card size is medium-large, which I like. The cards are thick and feel high-quality, and I love the gold edges. Their thickness does make them a little more difficult to shuffle, though, and will take some time to break in. The cards are also glossy, which is nice, but also gives a glare, depending on your light source.
The artwork, which I’m sure is AI and no artist is given credit for this nice art, is surprisingly better than other AI tarot decks. I have yet to find any hallucinations, which is impressive. The colors are a little muted, but the quality of the cards kept it from being too dark. But, with the muted and dark colors, it fits the dark fantasy theme perfectly. I did not expect to like this deck as much as I do.
Because of the darker themes of the cards, it might not resonate with some readers (and though this deck would work well for beginners, tarot makes some beginners nervous already). But as a collector and somebody who’s been reading cards most of his life, I’ll be using this deck in my rotation, and I’d recommend it to anyone who likes dark fantasy.

Beautiful, dark images. Definitely has a “heavy” spiritual feeling to them. Definitely a darker energy not only in the pictures, but in the feeling alone. Not a bad thing. Can sometimes be balancing. When I read with the with my brighter cards, the readings were in line. Images are more discrete than the RW system so you may want to use the book if you are a newer reader, or use your own interpretations based on your intuition and imagery. The cards are sturdy and have gorgeous foil sheen edges with a golden/green color. Probably my favorite color of all the foil edged cards I use. The size of the cards is typical of most decks that I’ve used. Cards did need separating individually before a good shuffle. They seem to be durable and will likely to be used for years to come. They may be a little darker than I’d like for my own energy, but I can see myself using them in certain readings.

First thing I noticed about this tarot card set is its size, it’s smaller than expected. Just means it’s easier to store. The artwork is absolutely beautiful, the entire deck shines as a whole as well as each individual card. The deck itself comes wrapped in plastic within the protective box and is paired with a guidebook to help you along the way in using these cards as they were designed for. From the feel and look, these cards were made with care in mind. You can see the quality in each card.
Considering that tarot cards have a symbolic function, meaning, and esoteric ties it really is easy to use once you practice and get hands on experience using them. For anyone looking for their first set or looking to add to their collection, this deck is sure to appeal to many as well as speak to those who seek to learn what the cards want to help reveal to you. I definitely recommend.
