A Breath of Fresh Air for Dog Owners!

As a devoted dog parent, I’m always on the lookout for products that can improve my furry friend’s health and well-being. Dental Fresh Water Additive has been a revelation in our household, and here’s why:

Noticeable Difference: Within just a week of using this additive, I observed a significant reduction in the tartar buildup on my dog’s teeth. His breath, which used to be quite pungent, is now much fresher!
Easy to Use: The hassle-free nature of this product is a huge plus. Just a few drops in the water bowl, and you’re good to go. No more struggling with toothbrushes or trying to get your dog to chew dental toys.
Taste: My dog didn’t seem to notice any difference in his water. There was no resistance or hesitation, which made the transition seamless.
Safety: I appreciate that the formula is non-toxic and safe for regular consumption. It’s comforting to know that while it’s working to improve dental hygiene, it’s not harming my pet in any way.
Cost-Effective: Considering the potential vet bills for dental issues down the line, this product is a small investment for a big payoff.
In conclusion, Dental Fresh Water Additive has been a game-changer for us. Not only has it improved my dog’s oral health, but it’s also given me peace of mind knowing I’m taking proactive steps to care for his teeth and gums. For any dog owner concerned about dental hygiene, this product is a must-try!

Note: Always ensure your dog has access to fresh water and consult with your vet if you have any concerns about introducing new products to your pet’s routine.

I have 2 Westies and one of them has some serious bad breath!! So, I’ve purchased so many different products in the form of a liquid to try and freshen their breath. This Senergy Dental Fresh is the only freshener that my dogs like in their water!! I’ve tried the Petco brands and they leave too much of a minty smell to the water, and my dogs refuse to drink their water. I had to fight them off the toilet bowl because that is where they would end up! 🙂
So, needless to say, this is the only stuff I can use that does work. You only need a little to do the trick. I have a small water bowl so all I add to it is about 2 Tbsp to their empty bowl, and then I fill the rest of the bowl with fresh tap water. Doing it this way also helps to mix the stuff in well w/ the water. Also, I chose to buy it online because it was cheaper than buying it at Petco and having to take the 30 minute trip as well.

Now, the only reason why I gave these 4 stars and not 5 is because the two bottles they sent me were bad. I opened the first one and automatically I could tell something was wrong when I pulled off the safety seal. Normally this product does have a slight distinct smell to it that I can’t describe, but when I opened the 1st bottle it had more of a strong chemical/plastic smell to it. I still tried to mix it with water, but I could smell some chemical smell in the water really strong. (Normally you can smell a faint smell that just smells like ummm…dull water??) So I just dumped the bottle. The second bottle didn’t smell quite as bad, but I could still once again smell a chemical smell that was not normal with the usual product I purchase. I still added it and diluted it with water, but my dogs didn’t drink their water which is not very common. Stupid me had torn up the receipt a week prior, and dumped the product out their bottle, when I should have returned it. I still ended up having to drive to Petco in the next town over, and pay $20 for a 32 fl oz bottle. Just to make sure I wasn’t crazy, I did open up the bottle and smelled the product before I bought it, which had the smell I thought it should. (You can still smell the stuff through the safety seal).

Despite the 2 bad bottles I received, I stand by this product and love it because it is a simple way to keep the dog’s teeth clean and breath fresh. This shouldn’t be a substitute for brushing their teeth though. Also, it prevents you from having to give them numerous treats to freshen their breath. (Especially if you’re watching their weight) A 17.3 oz bottle normally lasts about 3-4 wks for my two Westies who drink about 1 (16 oz) bowl a day.

This product works well for helping my dogs breath smell better. I would rate it a 4/5 for that.
Unfortunately the packaging is a 1/5. It is extremely difficult to get the plastic off the top. I have to use a sharp knife to break through it as there is NO tear away perforations.
Then you have to squeeze the sides of the lid to break another release to open the measuring cup lid. I have arthritis in both of my thumbs and cannot open it myself. Very frustrating!!!

This stuff works great! I have a 4 y.o. Dexter dog and a 4 y.o. Pretty Girl cat. I use a little of this daily in their water dishes. They drink it no problem and not only do their teeth look better, the dog’s breath is never smelly!

I received this on August 18th, and started using it right away. The suggested dosage is a teaspoon in 8oz of water. My dog is small, weighing 10 lbs so I felt a little less would be better to start out with. I used it once a day, for about one month and slowly started to see a behavioral change in the way my pup normally would act each morning during feeding time. He always would do a happy dance- spinning in circles, tail wagging, showing excitement and would start eating immediately once his bowl was put down. But, this slowly changed where his interest faded, and he wouldn’t even eat right away. He’d lay down across from his food bowl, uninterested and would need to be coaxed to start eating. He would eventually start, then stop, walk away and lay down again. There was no excitement and no typical happy dance. He would eventually eat and usually finish his food but this was concerning. The rest of his behavior seemed normal and unchanged. He wasn’t vomiting or showing signs of intestinal discomfort. So, I decided to stop using it and see if he returned to his normal eating routine. It’s been almost one week since I stopped using it and just today he did his happy dance again and began eating right away. I write this review to bring awareness to others to pay close attention to their dogs behavior. The product seemed to work good though. His breath was noticeably fresh, but the changes in behavior do not outweigh that fact for me. I’m going to continue to omit it from his water for a while longer and maybe add it back in only once a week. If I notice changes once again from just using it once a week… I will update this review to include what happens. Be careful. Watch your pups closely.

Dental Fresh Plaque & Tartar Control Water Additive is an easy and effective way to support better oral health for both dogs and cats. Adding it to the water bowl is effortless, making daily dental care simple—especially for pets that resist brushing. The advanced formula helps reduce plaque buildup while keeping breath noticeably fresher, and it doesn’t have a strong smell or taste that pets turn away from. Over time, teeth look cleaner and gums appear healthier, making this a great addition to a regular pet care routine. It’s a convenient, low-stress solution that delivers real results.

I have been using this product for many years because of how well it freshens dog breath and keeps plaque and tartar under control. Relatively recently, they switched the bottles to have a new cap that includes a 5ml (1tsp) measurement on the top of the cap (the dosage for water is 1tsp of product per cup of water). For those of us who have large water bowls (e.g., dog owners with 4–7 cups of water in a bowl), this has made prepping the water more of a headache. In the past, the inside of the cap could fit ~2+ tablespoons of product in it, and so you could measure how much product you needed *once* and fill the inside of the cap with it and use some feature of the cap to estimate that quantity in future refills. However, the inside of this new cap is much smaller, which makes the old way impossible. Others in my family also use this product for their dogs, and they share this frustration with the new bottle.

Fortunately, the inside of the new cap appears to be nearly exactly 1 tbsp (3 tsp/15 ml). I have water bowls that require ~7 tsp of product, and so having 1 tbsp on the inside of the cap makes it much more practical to use the cap for measurement. Still, in the old bottle, I could just partially fill the inside of the cap once and be done, which was better than the current situation. It seems like a minor thing, but if you have to refill multiple water bowls at least once a day, then the annoyance adds up. I really hope they get rid of this new bottle with the red cap. The old bottle may not have looked as modern, but the cap was actually useful.

The ineffectiveness of the new cap is the reason I’m giving 4/5 stars. Otherwise, the actual product is great. Our veterinarian is very happy with our dog’s teeth, which have never needed a professional cleaning in the 5+ years of our pet’s life. Our pet also gets Plaque Off powder in his food, and we give him enzymatic dental chews; however, if we don’t also give him the Dental Fresh in his water, his breath will eventually pick up an odor. The Dental Fresh seems to ensure he has fresh breath, and I get the impression that it softens the plaque/tartar and makes it easier for other processes to sweep it off.

There are competing products (e.g., from Arm and Hammer), which we’ve tried that seemed much thicker/slimier and were more visible in the water. Our dog was OK with drinking that water, but we weren’t comfortable with how it mixed (or seemed not to mix). In reviews of those other products, we saw people talking about dogs gagging on their water. We never have seen that issue with our dog (using any products), but we felt like this product mixed better and was giving us good results, and so we stuck with it instead of switching to any of those alternatives.

Given how long this product lasts, we’ve been happy with the value too. We just wish the industrial designers who came up with the new bottle would have considered dog owners who give their pups more than a cup of water. Measurement of this product used to be so easy with the large volume of the inside of the old cap. Now it feels more like baking every day. Just remember that the inside of the cap is 1 tbsp (and ignore the useless 1 tsp cup on the outside of the cap).

Okay so this is the 3rd bottle I’ve ordered. I have 2 dogs one large one small. My smaller dog. Jack. Had plaque build up pretty good. He’s never liked the teeth brushing so I figured I try this. This stuff by the second bottle has dissolved the hard plaque on this dogs teeth. After the first week The breath was noticeably gone on my Pittie and significantly reduced one Jack. Their Teeth are looking cleaner and cleaner daily. If they weren’t so figidity I’d get a pic of their teeth I’ll try to add one if I can. But this stuff is good and the price point is great. It doesn’t upset their stomachs either. And I have a large Pittie who’s very sensitive with his belly. It’s works great. It’s super easy to store as well no larger than our mouth wash bottles. And it has a measuring cap as well.

I tried this at a friends suggestion and was shocked how well it worked. I wish I would have tried this from the beginning as I would have saved a ton of money, great value! It doesn’t discolor the water and it’s safe for all my dogs which I could t be happier about. It’s the best dog breath water additive!

    Would recommend!
TL;DR- helps freshen breath but does not eliminate the bad breath.

I have an old dog with pretty bad teeth and he has a nasty habit of eating his own poop. So his breath is pretty bad to say the least. This definitely helps make his breath tolerable and for that- it’s a win.

My dogs looked at the water for a little bit before drinking. But once they drank it- it looked like it didn’t taste any different as they kept drinking and haven’t really looked at it again.

This is the best stuff ever! My vet could hardly believe the difference in my dog’s teeth & breath! You no longer have to endure that nasty dog breath! Follow directions. It doesn’t take much per container of water, & doesn’t have to be given but once per container of water per day.

I have been using this (advanced tarter) practically ever day for many years over 4 dogs. I told my local pet stores and vets about it over 8 years ago. I used to buy original (before advanced came out) for a long time (can’t remember how many years) from petsmart/petco before I found advanced on Amazon. I just saw that my first purchase on Amazon was April 2012. Advanced works better. Not sure why there is an original.

Use half of what it says for advanced. I’ve been doing that way… 10+ years or so? Yes, I still brush when needed, usually 1-2 times every day for a week to clear things up, then maybe not again for many months. Just monitor.

Once upon a time, many moons ago, my American Eskimo’s teeth (Schubert) was getting build up after 11yrs. I also had 2 younger mini Aussie cousins Jake and Rosie – Rosie had bad teeth genetically and lost several teeth including one of her canines. I brushed all there teeth at least a few times a month even back then. After research into things and seeing this newfangled technology stuff, I had to try it – especially after what my little girl had gone through. Amazing is all I can say. I wish I knew about it before. Chunks of plaque were literally popping off just with a light fingernail pressure, the rest just fell off. The vet said I must be brushing them every day. I told her and she hadn’t heard about it back then, but said if it is sold in petsmart/petco, they usually do their homework to not sell unsafe products.

9 Years ago, 8/1/2011, while I still had Jake left, I got an abandoned just born gem of a girl dog Nola (yes, from New Orleans visiting family). She is a mix 1/4 lab, 1/4 boxer, 1/8 golden, 1/8 rottie and rest of 1/4 not determined on wisdom panel. It’s been in her water virtually every day of her life. A year ago, I went to a new vet and he didn’t believe she was 8 when looking at her teeth. He said he would have guessed 3 maybe.

Not sure where the bad reviews are coming from, but, with this and anything else, you should slowly introduce your dog to things they ingest. A couple years ago I told my neighbor, and they dumped a cap full in a small bowl for their small dog and complained it didn’t drink it. I told them to go back to fresh water for 2 days (to forget maybe) and then put 1 DROP in a full bowl. No problem. They worked their way to about half strength – which is what I recommend. Nasty breath and teeth are good now.

Well, first off, the first bottle I bought lasted MONTHS. Even in summer, when I was washing and refilling my dog’s bowl several times a day! She’s a little dog (20lbs), so her bowl isn’t huge, but I am still impressed!

I bought a separate water jug with different colors than our regular fridge water, so everyone could tell where the dog water was. This meant I spent less time mixing up her water and more time giving her water. Highly recommend this method!

It drastically improved her breath and it did so very quickly. She went from KO at ten feet to hmm, smells a bit like dog food at point blank range.

Then we started giving her a dental treat once a day. Now her breath is downright pleasant. I didn’t know that was possible! She smells faintly herbal, even if she’s snoring in my face. What a blessing!

I’ve finally purchased a second bottle, because we’re running low. Her plaque is about 50% better than it was when we started. It was bad, she’s very old and has already had teeth removed.

She doesn’t like dental toys, she can’t chew on most treats because of her teeth, and she becomes violent if you try to do anything with her mouth.

We’re working on it (we haven’t had her very long!) and she’s improving, but her teeth are improving way faster! If we can get her to accept us brushing her teeth, we might be able to avoid an expensive, full sedation dental cleaning!

I am deeply grateful for what this water additive has done for my elderly dog. Her teeth are still very gross, it’s not a miracle worker, but they’re so much better than they were. Her breath smells amazing and she’s much more pleasant to be around. Everybody wins here.
