I’m a new user of the drunk elephant brand. I recently had a birthday and the Drunk Elephant Lala retro whipped cream moisturizer was a free birthday gift being offered at Ulta and since I was looking for a new moisturizer, I grabbed it. I ended up, loving the moisturizer and purchasing a full size one, which was my first purchase. Then when looking for a lip mask I came across this and decided to give drunk elephant another chance here as well.
Upon using this product and loving it as well, I decided to come and do thorough review of the product just to share some of my thoughts on the product as well as address some concerns I share that are stated in other reviews.
First and foremost, I’ll begin with why I love this product, which is very simple. It’s a great CLEAN product with high quality ingredients that serve the purpose of moisturizing and protecting my lips, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Now quickly to address size and price two things I definitely feel the need to justify. Upon doing further research into other similar products, (lip salves/masks) this lip mask is priced very well as the average lip mask cost about $25. As far as the amount of product you get I took a product photo for reference to show that in this product you receive as much product as you would in TWO tubes of Carmex which I think this is sufficient. Being that the formula of this mask is so thick and I have to reapply a lot less I can see this jar lasting me enough time for me to be satisfied with the value.
Now, to the brand. Hear me out. I love the product, can we please incorporate a spatula into the packaging? I really dislike the idea of having to apply it with my fingers and have been using a spatula to apply instead. It would be really great if one came with the product. I would also really love the keychain carrier that came out during a PR release. I saw on YouTube a user had one and I would love if those were available for purchase. I would definitely grab one to take my product along with me because I do love it and would like to use it throughout the day again which is why I don’t enjoy the idea of putting my fingers in it whilst I’m moving throughout my day.
Lastly, I’ve just gone through a long journey of repairing and restoring my lips to a healthier state and I’m thrilled I found this product to help keep my lips, moisturized, protected and healthy. Good job drunk elephant!

🚩 – gets very soft when warm. Dip into carefully. The first time I used this, I had just retrieved my mail from my outdoor mail locker. It is summer where I live. This product had been in the parcel locker for a few hours, so I was ambient temperature. Once I got it home and opened it, I went to skim my finger over the top of the product, because it looked firm. It was not. My finger plunged in and made a big gouge in the top, since the product gave no resistance. On a normal day, when this product has been inside all day, this wouldn’t be a problem. But I do not recommend storing this in your car or other area that gets to outside temperature.
I’m giving this product 3 out of 5 stars. It is not a bad product, but it is not a WOW! product either. It doesn’t last all night on me, like straight petroleum jelly and another night lip mask I have does.
My two complaints are that it is quite high priced for what it is-components/ingredients-wise, and also the stupid cube it comes in. Yes, the cube is cute and unique, but it is also twice as large as it needs to be to hold the product. This relegates it to nightstand only, as this is too big to travel with, definitely not going to fit in a pocket and not ideal to put in your purse either. The size of the cube gives you a false impression of how much product you actually get. I took one star off for each of these gripes.

I don’t love the texture of this mask. It has the same texture as honey, and so you expect that it will be on the same sticky level. Although it’s not necessarily sticky, it definitely lacks a certain comfortable slip.

Highly overpriced and no different than Vaseline. It wasn’t a good product at all and definitely not worth a fraction of the cost. The Ordinary squalane balm is superior and very inexpensive.
