The cover is great for keeping the heat in when basting eggs or melting cheese. It also good for keeping the heat in when resting the meat before cutting. Noth items are well made and I believe will last for many years. The screwdriver comes with it to assemble the handle on the cover which is great but it is also perfect for removing screws for those outdoor light with screws on the battery covers.

Being a 7″ press it lets you smash a patty without worrying about it coming out the side. The handle is strong enough to press down hard, hopefully it will last but after about 100 burgers it is like new.
I have not yet used the dome, I don’t feel it is really necessary for smash burger but would be good for regular burgers (1 at a time).

So, I used to use a pot bottom to smash my burgers. You know the saying… Those pot bottom burgers make the world go round. Well, the handle was beginning to break, so I had to buy a press. I bought this press. Mainly because it was not cast iron. I used it last night to make burgers and it worked very nice. I’m not thrilled about the ribs in it and wish it was flat. Easier to make them rounder that way. Yeah, it’s true, I believe in the flat burger theory. That wooden handle is a nice touch too. Gets greasy easy but who cares. I’m at peace with my grease.
That little dome it comes with, pretty dang awesome too. I have a sheet pan with a rack. I fill it with hot water and when I put the double cheeseburger patties on the rack, I put the dome over it and let the heat help melt the cheese more. Works really good.

I got this for my husband for Fathers day and between the 2 of us this gets almost daily use for smashburgers, covering eggs while they cook, a million other things.
The cover is sturdy enough not to worry about it, and the press is a very solid cast iron that feels good in the hand.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for something like this.

I bought the lid and grill press to use in a local kitchen I volunteer at. It’s exactly what I needed. The grill press leaves nice lines on the hotdogs. I do recommend being careful with the grill press as the handle can get hot.
