40 year player, 10 year hiatus, wife wanted a set, we both win. Hi hats are really clean and short, better than average, good bite . Crash is a standard rock crash with good harmonics and depth. The “free” 10″ splash is crisp and fits well tonally with the others.
This collection is really incredible for the price. I needed a set of cymbals for a practice set/jam set. When I saw these for under a hundred bucks, I thought I would try them because the reviews were great. There is a reason for this. These cymbals sound great. They are matched, so they sound well together. I can’t stress how good these sound. These do not feel cheap like some others I have seen. Nice and solid with deep grooves and a bright finish. If your reading this, then you will eventually come back and buy these. You’re welcome.

I’m a full time musician who plays guitar, uke, and piano. I just started teaching myself drums over the past few years after buying a cheap kit that came with really bad hi hat cymbals. Since I started getting better at drums I finally decided to upgrade to some new cymbals. These sound great for the price and you definitely won’t be disappointed with the quality of sound and look. They seemed to break in and sound better after a few plays. I’m not an expert on drums but do play with quite a few drummers and I would say these would even get you by at a live pro gig. For my purposes of just learning and practicing at home they are great. I’ve even started recording them and they work fine. Amazing for beginners good to great for amateurs and pros. Ordered them and they came quickly with Prime shipping as promised.

Just not the sound I am looking for; they sound like cowbells or gongs. The value is good for what it is and much better than the starter pack that came with my drum set. I may be brand new at this; I already have a sense of what tones I want and this set is not it

I was a bit skeptical at first when I saw the price but that’s what I get for being a skeptic because this cymbal set is fantastic!!! The cymbals sound amazing, they are strong but not too thick so I get the crisp bright sound that I personally like in cymbals, the set comes with a free pair of sticks and 3 free online lessons, I mean…..what more do you want and for only $99.00!!! I’ve never played Meinl brand cymbals before and like most people, I’m on a budget and anyone who is as passionate about music as I am, knows that it’s a very expensive passion to have, especially being a drummer, so for me to receive everything that comes in the package, for only $99.00 and to have the sound that they have, is unbeatable! I looked at some cymbal box sets from other companies and nobody even comes close to Meinl’s price and nobody else had as much product in one package deal either. I’m ready to start buying some more Meinl cymbals to complete my drum kit!Meinl Cymbals HCS1314+10S HCS Pack Cymbal Box Set with 13-Inch Hi Hats, 14-Inch Crash, Plus FREE 10-Inch Splash Cymbal, FREE Sticks, and FREE Lessons (VIDEO)

I bought those to upgrade from the awful cymbals that came with my first drum set when I was beginning. Granted this is a VERY good price for a cymbal set- the high hats sound more like a cowbell than high hats when you’re trying to play them close. These are VERY THICK cymbals. They don’t have a nice hiss/chatter to them, they go from 0-10 the moment you open them up a millimeter, and sound very loud… and not in a good way. If you’re looking for something to smack for practice these are perfect for you. If you plan on recording any music or using these to play a gig, even a small one- look elsewhere. I’ve since purchased a few cymbals from Zildjian, and I’m much more pleased with the quality. Perhaps I was expecting too much and I’m being too harsh in this review, please feel free to comment, I’m by no means an expert. Just giving my honest opinion. TL:DR- this package gives you quantity but lacks in quality.

I bought a really beat up kit so my friend and I could start learning drums. After a while we got tired of the worn out hi-hats sounding like garbage cans clashing together so I tried looking online for affordable options. I ended up coming across this set that had a lot more than what I was looking for but for a price I really didn’t wanna pass up considering that it wasn’t just the hi-hats that were beat up. I got this as a temporary solution until we could afford “better” equipment. When we set these up and started playing with them the quality in sound was huge. Of course considering that the old cymbals were beat up there’d be a difference for sure but i didn’t expect the quality for these to be so crisp and nice. For a beginner it feels like a lot of variety to work with when using and setting these up to our preference. No regrets in this purchase and i can’t recommend it enough for beginners who are trying to piece things together on their own.

I bought this HCS cymbal set back in 2016 and I’m honestly surprised at how well it has held up over the years. It’s been used mostly for practice and casual playing, and it’s still going strong. For a beginner set, the sound is decent and consistent enough to learn proper technique without worrying about damaging expensive cymbals.
These cymbals aren’t meant to compete with high-end professional cymbals, but they do exactly what they’re supposed to do for beginners and practice sessions. Durability has been solid for the price, and I haven’t had any major issues with cracking or warping. cymbals are good in size and the appearance was very solid. it weights a bit but hey they are brass hehe.
Pros:
Great value starter pack for beginners
Durable, still usable after years of practice
Good for learning and daily practice
Cons:
Sound quality is basic compared to professional cymbals
Not ideal for studio recording or live performances
Conclusion:
If you’re starting out or need a reliable set of practice cymbals, this is a solid choice. I’ve been using mine since 2016 and they’ve held up well. They’re not professional-grade, but for beginners and everyday practice, this set does the job and offers great value for the price.
