Six months ago, I lost my husband. Six hours ago, I found out he had another family. Six minutes ago, my life changed forever.

For my 45th birthday, I planned to treat myself to a spa day with my bestie. But instead, my late husband’s insurance broker drops by to let me know that not only am I still widowed, but my husband’s insurance policies are being paid to his other wife – and his other family. Happy birthday to me.

Shell-shocked and still forty-five, my spa day becomes wine night as I attempt to drown my sorrows with music and dancing. The next thing I know, I’m being romanced by an Indiana Jones wannabe who arrives like a dervish to sweep me off my feet. One thing leads to another but before anything happens, Indy goes missing, the place is trashed, and I’ve got myself a glowing snake tattoo that seems to be talking to me about magic, curses, and a hex that is going to kill me. And I get to do the walk of shame – without having any of the fun.

I arrive home to find Logan Gentry, a tall, dark drink of water who seems to think I am some ancient magical being sent here to solve his problems. On any other day, I would bust out my Taser and show him who’s boss but there’s something about his story – and the fact that he knows all about my talking tattoo – that draws me in. One thing is for sure… this guy knows more about what’s happened to me than I do. If I help him, maybe I’ll find some answers along the way. Assuming the curse on my possessed tattoo doesn’t kill me first.

Age is just a number, right? Especially when you’re possessed by an ancient Oracle.

A paranormal women’s fiction romance with a feisty heroine in serious midlife crisis, a talking tattoo, a chain-smoking ghost in a housedress, and an adventure that proves you’re never too old to start over from USA Today Bestselling author Lisa Manifold.

The feisty middle aged oracle has a mystery to solve for her first consultant. Follow her on the journey as she comes to grips with her personal life, kids and solving the case. This is the second Oracle book I’ve read and I’m not done yet. I love a good cozy mystery .

    The Oracle of Wynter.
    Interesting mystery with bad magical
Been widowed, than bang, her husband had another wife.
The twist and turns of being an Oracle, a what you might say.
Wynter and her kids are going to meet the wife 2 and her kids

    Unbiased and keepin’ it 100

So, although I gave it 5/5, the ending didn’t make it feel complete and I think that’s what adds to the charm of this entire story.
Wynter’s story is short of heartbreaking, like I FELT for the woman. To find out the man you loved, college sweetheart and all, for almost 3 decades cheated on you, was a bigamist and had a whole family/life that he managed to keep a secret and screwed you/your family out of a large portion of money/wealth you rightfully were entitled to. That SUCKS. Then to make matters worse, when you finally feel like doing something just for you…your entire world turns upside down.
To say she rebounded and came out of it better off is kinda lowballing it greatly.
I enjoyed meeting Logan and the kids, but c’mon don’t you wish you knew what happened in NY or how that meeting played out?
But the twisted beauty of the author not including those scenes or drawing out the aftermath of Oracle acceptance is that we only need to know when we need to know… and I guess we don’t need to know.
Can’t wait to dove into book 2!

Paranormal women’s fiction, is a relatively new genre (as of Feb 2021), but has proven to have a rather large following, and a number of authors interested in writing it, which is where this book comes in.
Featuring an older heroine, in a different phase of life from the usual, it’s all about life changes and new beginnings, and the idea that you’re never too old for adventures (or even a little romance).
The best thing about paranormal women’s fiction, is that the older heroines tend to have way more common sense, and do far fewer stupid things, which is often a refreshing change!
This book was entertaining and even amusing at times. The heroine gets put through the wringer, but manages to rise above everything and ‘level up’ as it were.
As the first book in a series, it’s left with an open-ending for future books, but it’s not a cliffhanger.

Recommended for those who enjoy paranormal romance, urban fantasy and paranormal women’s fiction.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book . I haven’t written a review on a book before but felt the need to with this one. Fabulous story line so far, I have read a lot of paranormal books and this one had a refreshing twist right at the start. Easy to read and I look forward to the next one.

I love that a mature woman is centre stage. Great fun, interesting mystery, nice simple magic system and a true life situation with a bigamist husband leaving family and financial complications. Told in the first person, Wynter’s first foray to a bar since her husband died ends as a police suspect in a missing person case. The walk of shame in a small town as the gossip swirls around the supermarket. Highly recommended. I’m looking forward to reading the next book.

It started with a bang and fizzled a little in the middle but it was a good read about a bad situation and dealing with midlife crisis

I have to admit I had to redownload this book so I could leave a review. I’m all caught up anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

I love Wynter. At first I wasn’t too sure about her but as the series progressed I fell in love with the character. She does not come off as some of the other midlife characters in different series that all of a sudden they have magic and single-handedly save the Day. She slowly comes into her own. She grows into her role and doesn’t think she is the strongest thing out there. She is the perfect balance in a character.

Yes she is in her midlife but that is not constantly mentioned in the books. Also while she does end up in a relationship it is not a huge focus of the book and he is not constantly there to help her. I like that she is able to do these things without him. I’m not saying he doesn’t help but she doesn’t require him to. That being said I really like his character and their relationship!

The pacing in the book is perfect. It’s not long and drawn out with hurdles being thrown up at every turn. There are sub plots that run throughout the books that are just as interesting as the main story.

If you are looking for a midlife book where the main character doesn’t constantly complain about her weight or her gray hair or her wrinkles or yada yada yada…. if you like stories with magic that has been received late in life with a beleivable main character and entertaining side characters then this series is for you!

This is a fun series of books. A mid life woman, coming from disappointment…lots of similar themes out there but this one took a different twist. How she ends up a super magical oracle, at first seemingly by mistake, is just a great story. The growth into her power, and her destiny is awesome, and fun. Lots of danger, puzzles to solve, supernatural beings who end up her friends and allies follow the whole story through. When I got to the end, I was sorry it was the end. All the characters were so likable and engaging that I am hoping we have another story arc that includes them. I was sorry to get to the end of book 6. I’d rather give a review at the beginning that includes the whole series than do each one. So read this. If you like this genre, you’ll love this one.

H&HF has interesting and entertaining characters that kept me reading straight through. There is a bit of repetition in the beginning, then the plot hits its stride. I’m on my way to get book 2. Enjoy!

I purchased this book because I really enjoyed the previous stories by this author. I was not sure what to expect but I have to say, I loved the book. It was such a fun book to read, it has some suspense, some mystery and some paranormal.

Wynter is one tough cookie, she has lost everything that she thought was her normal life. She finds herself in a place that she thought she was losing her mind and her safety. But what I really liked about her was her ability to rise above it like a rational adult in an irrational world.

Logan is one mysterious man who comes into Wynter’s life just as she is trying to cope with finding out her dead husband had another family, being a suspect in a disappearance, and having voices in her head. He knows who she is and needs her help. Because he seems to know more about what is happening to her, she lets him stay around. But not that she really had a say in the matter, he was determined to stay until she does help him.

It will be very interesting to see where this story goes in the future. I only hope that Logan stays around in those books, I really do like him.

This series was recommended to me and I thought I’d give it a try. Well, one of the best choices I’ve ever made in a series! Can’t wait to read them all – so many surprises around every corner! Love Wynter and how she handles being an Oracle. Couldn’t put it down! ❤️❤️ (Reviewed by Phyllis Paoletti)

This book has a slow start, but that’s not unusual for the first book in a series. It does warm up halfway through and keeps you wanting to see what happens next. It’s an interesting twist on a woman’s life once her children are grown and her life has turned upside down. She discovers that the supernatural world exists and she is now part of it. This plot has a lot of potential. The characters are multifaceted and the story is well written. I’m looking forward to see where this series goes.
