Ein Must-Have in jeder (vor allem christlichen) Bibliothek. Ich habe das Buch schon 2 Mal gelesen und einmal verschenkt und es wird immernoch nicht langweilig. Sehr spannend und es regt zum Nachdenken an. Es sind sehr viele Erfahrungen von allen Nationalitäten, Glaubensrichtungen und Altersunterschieden eingeflossen und das macht es auch so glaubwürdig.

I love this book. So many shared incidents can’t be a coincidence. These stories don’t superceed or take the place of scripture but much of what was experienced lines up with what is mentioned in the bible. It is real comfort to those of us who have lost loved ones. It really gives us a future to look forward to!

I must respectfully disagree with the review from the SarahSaidThis. There are clearly out of body experiences recorded in the bible such as Stephen in Acts 7:56. Stephen was comforted by seeing God’s glory before he died. My 91 year old mother was required to have her heart stopped for a very short period while they placed her new valve into place through catherization. After coming home from the hospital, she repeatedly over a period of months explained to me how she viewed from the ceiling the doctors working on her on the operating table and then how she quickly moved to the side of her operating gurney and watched. She said it was all very peaceful. She had never heard of NDE’s and was so confused about what happened. My brother, a solid follower of Christ and a Southern Baptist pastor with multiple academic degrees including a doctorate in divinity, explained the NDE to her. During one of her checkups I told Mom’s Internal Medicine doctor what had briefly happened to her, and he said that he was amazed that I was sharing her experience with him at at this time, since he was in the middle of studying in some of his medical journals about this phenomenon. He said that he found it very fascinating. He gave examples in the medical journal including one of a woman who watched a portion of her surgery from the ceiling of the operating room. The next day in the hospital she shared with the surgeon what she had read during the NDE from a paper sitting on top of the tall cabinet close to the ceiling of the operating room. The doctor had hospital staff remove the paper from the top of the cabinet, and word for word the woman had read the print during her NDE! The spiritual world is REAL!! One must be careful that experiences are divine. Peace only comes from the Word and God. If the experience is scary then God is not in it. To God be the glory! May this book be an inspiration to others and more importantly lead to their coming to a personal relationship with Christ if they don’t have one. I have purchased this book several times to give to neighbors and friends that had no interest in reading the bible, but yet was fascinated about reading this book.

This book is very insightful. I started having a lot of questions about heaven, and it really has answered a lot them. It is scripture based as well. It even explores other religions (besides Christianity) in comparison with their view of heaven, which I found very helpful. I have passed it on to a family member who also had questions and they also felt like it helped. Makes you think about life outside of this life. I also now want to meet someone who had a near death experience to ask them if they have any insights to this as well. The correlation between everyone who has been through a NDE or such experience is quite mind blowing. A must read!

This book is absolutely fantastic. At the beginning he absolutely gives total credibility to near death experiences and the fact that people have been to heaven and experienced life after death. He refers a lot to studies that have been done and scientific evidence that this is the case. It is an incredibly detailed and beautifully written book that doesn’t just give you near death experiences but also shares with you the love of god and what we have got to look forward to after we have died. It also makes it very clear what you have to do in order to get to heaven and it is wonderful that he talks about other religions and the near-death experiences they have had and the fact that all of them end up at Jesus. This book is a big thick book and is an absolutely amazing read. I am intending on buying my friends all a copy for Christmas in order to share the gospel with them and in order for them to see what is awaiting them after death. There is a section about hell which isn’t over the top but gives enough of a idea of what is to come if you are not a Christian which I think he’s incredibly important as Jesus did speak about hell. This is simply an amazing book and it was a joy to read. I am going to read it at least once more immediately and I will definitely read it repeatedly in the future. It also sparked me to buy all the books, unshockable love, evidence of the afterlife, Life After Life and and another book about life after death. I have always been fascinated with stories about people going to heaven and have several books written by people who died and went to heaven but this book is the piesta resistance as it it brings lots and lots of experiences of Heaven all together in one volume. I absolutely loved reading it.

Fascinating stories from both patients and physicians. The one thing that bothered me was the narrator’s attempt to use various voices as though it was a novel. It sounds silly in a nonfiction book and he doesn’t really do it very well.

Before I read Imagine Heaven I was quite skeptical about near-death experiences. After reading this thoroughly well researched book on NDE’s by John Burke I am now a believer. Mr. Burke masterfully weaves stories of NDE’s with what the Bible describes what heaven will be like. As Christians we know heaven is a real place but often we don’t think much about it.
Colossians (3:2) tells us to: “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” After reading Imagine Heaven you can’t help but want to spend more time thinking about heaven. What makes the book so compelling and believable is that the author shares NDE accounts from many professional people who have very little to gain and much to lose professionally by sharing their NDE stories. This to me adds a great deal of credibility to the various accounts shared in the book.
John Burke acts as an investigative reporter comparing these unique NDE with what the Bible describes heaven will be like and comes to the conclusion that they don’t seem to contradict what the Bible describes and in many cases confirms an aspect of heaven shared in the scriptures. So many common experiences are shared by those that have had an NDE that at the very least even a skeptic will have to pause to consider the validity of these accounts. From showing how consciousness seems to leave the body to people seeing a great bright light there are so many similarities to the stories that I know myself I can’t just dismiss them as some wild eyed fairy tale.
What also proved exciting is the accounts of people meeting friends and family members in heaven and that there will even be our beloved pets there. Imagine Heaven also shares stories of several children and even blind individuals who are able to remarkably describe vivid pictures of what heaven will be like.
What I found especially thrilling in this book is that Burke weaves an evangelistic message throughout its pages sharing that Jesus is the way to heaven! He also spends an entire chapter sharing NDE’s about people who were given a glimpse of hell and brought back to life to share their experiences with the hope of telling others how to avoid going to hell.
The highlight of the book for me was the last chapter that describes the City of God. Talking about the Tree of Life, streets of gold, and the throne of God really made me yearn to be there.
In our society today we should be skeptical about fantastic accounts about the afterlife unless they line up with the Bible. John Burke has in Imagine Heaven been able to take the fantastic and make it believable because he shows how it closely aligns with the Bible. He offers an additional layer of hope for the many Christians that have lost loved ones that they will be reunited with those saved believers when they die and go to heaven.

Fascinating! The stories of people meeting Jesus Christ face-to-face and His pouring love out to them are the most wonderful and the most fascinating stories of the book. I’ve started buying copies for my friends and will be buying copies and leaving them on park benches, at the beach, etc with a note on them, “Finder’s Keepers!” That’s how good this book is.

I don’t remember where I learned of this book….but since receiving it, I have not been able to put it down! Having read a number of books about “near death experiences”, I had a good understanding about the phenomena.
