I got this ball for my two dogs, one is a 90 pound yellow lab mix and the other 45 pound black lab mix. So far only my bigger dog has played with it and has also busted it. He was playing with it for probably half an hour just chomping down to make it crinkle and crunch. It’s quite the loud ball!! I noticed the sound wasn’t as loud so I took a peek and noticed my dog basically crushed the inner ball into a much smaller ball. He’s still having a good time with it though. It’s only a matter of time though that he’s going to chew the outer shell because it doesn’t make noise like it did.

My dogs both absolutely loved these balls mainly because of the crackle balls inside. Unfortunately, they were able to get the crackle out within a day or so but they still love to chase and play with them now they are empty. My dogs are major destroyers who can kill even expensive tournament tennis balls in less than a day (a kong squeaky tennis type ball lasts about 5 minutes if you are lucky). Anyway, I think these are very good. I have now ordered the next size up and hope the crackle will stay in place for longer but I don’t bank on it.

Excellent toy for a dog who loves crackle balls! Crackle balls are one of my dogs very favorite toys and are surprisingly hard to find in a large dog size. This crackle ball is the perfect size for my doberman. Just small enough to fit in his mouth as a whole for playing fetch but not small enough for him to chew the entire thing in his mouth like tennis balls. This crackle ball has held up perfectly so far, i cant even find teeth marks in it and i have seen and heard him chewing it multiple times. Overall just a good design for us and the way my dog plays.

My review does not necessarily reflect on the initial intention of this ball, even though that is why I bought it. My dog loves to crunch water bottles. I guess its the sound and the tactile feedback for him. He has recently lost his sight due to old(er) age. I had bought these along with another ball that makes a lot of noise as it rolls, so that he could still play his favorite game, as I could see his frustration trying to find balls and toys as I rolled them by him. I bought these for the crunch. What I did not count on was that he would fully collapse the interior which made this the perfect toy for him to chase through the house as it now rattles as it rolls. He absolutely loves this ball. He will still alternate through his other toys, even the ones that he can not hear, but this is the one that when he hears the rattle, he comes for it. He took it to bed the first few weeks and would “look” all over for it when he couldn’t find it. I ended up buying another set, as I do not want him to be without, if this one should ever get destroyed or lost. On the quality, the interior, obviously, crushed pretty quick, as it is designed to. However, it is still crunchy and has not come apart or fallen out. The rubber exterior has stood up to his aggressive chewing and pulling with out starting to separate or tear. The “small” size is perfect for my 20lb pupper and is perfect size for him to grab and chew.

My German Shepherd loves this ball! I subtracted a star because be broke & squashed the inner ball in under two minutes. BUT, it still makes some crackle noise when he bites down on it, which he does frequently & the outer ball has held up to his daily abuse for a month. Considering he’s an 18 month, 100 pound dog, that’s a power chewer, that’s impressive. It also bounces in the house pretty well & hasn’t broken anything it’s hit yet lol It’s become his favorite so even with the weak inner ball, I’ll be buying this again.

This is a favourite for my fur babies. Super durable. Only second to the JW bowling pin. The dogs LOVE this toy. Soft enough it won’t damage walls, durable for aggressive chewers. They did destroy one, par for the course, but it took months. The crackle sound appeals to them. Me, while working, not so much. It will definitely pack snow in the gaps in winter.. they love it. I love it less when they bring it snow packed in the house, again, par for the course. I definitely recommend for aggressive chewers and doggos of all sizes as it has good grip for even tiny mouths.

My one year old corgi LOVED it for about an hour before he completely destroyed it. So not for aggressive chewer but probably a great toy for smaller, older dogs.

This ball style has been my Bouv’s favorite. I purchase the large one because I don’t want any choking hazards. It doesn’t take him long to destroy the plastic ball inside the ball. Then the ball becomes a great tossing ball. Gentle on my dogs mouth, they have lasted longer than most balls we’ve tried. He will amuse himself with the ball and goes to get them to play. He knows he has to bring his toys inside when done playing and they are easy for him to find. He can easily destroy the ball within minutes so if you have a destructive dog this might not be the ball for your dog. However, saying that, if you spend the time to train your dog not to destroy the ball it will last years. How we trained him after he destroyed the first two balls was when we were done playing ball with him, the balls were taken from him and stored out of reach. If while playing ball he started to chew instead of retrieving he was told ‘no’ and the ball removed before being destroyed. If he continued to play catch without reverting to chewing we kept playing. If he laid down to chew again, we took the ball away until the next game of catch. It didn’t take him long to figure out we didn’t want him destroying the balls. They are now left in his toy box and he goes and gets them when he wants us to play with him. We’ve had several through his life,..and I’m ordering more to make sure I have them throughout his life. He isn’t perfect he will still chew through one at least once a year or so. We still feel he deserves them and feel we are getting lots of bang for our buck.

The inside of these was like a plastic cola bottle but it’s smashed flat pretty fast so doesn’t crinkle much anymore. The outside of the ball is pretty tough so far and hasn’t been chewed. I wouldn’t recommend for a super heavy chewer but our 2 year old puppy isn’t quite the chewer he was as a puppy so I think it’s going to make it.

My red Heeler loves these balls, second only to Tennis balls but she destroys those within minutes and they are outside only. This is her inside ball. She is hard on toys and has the strongest bite of any dog I’ve had (shepherds, collies, weimaraners, retrievers, Labs) yet these continue to last. She catches the ball, we play tug of war with it (she places it in hand hand and pulls only when I have a firm grip, she shakes it and flings it. The rubber outside even outlasts the water-bottle like plastic piece inside. Steps holds the ball with her foot and pulls on the rubber with her mouth, stretching it to sometimes twice its size. I pull while shes pulling. This thing gets abused daily and keeps on going. Its the most used toy and she brings it to me to play with every day. Each ball lasts about 6 months before the inside ball is toast and the outer rubber is finally starting to tear/break. which for me in an incredibly long time. If this ball is available to play, she wants it over all others. Shes NEVER gotten a piece off to actually swallow and that alone is worth the price.

After a while the crackling material seems to squish down – but then you can hide treats in the balls! They are very sturdy which is good because our dog is a VERY aggressive chewer.

My golden loves this. He loves squashing up empty water bottles and this makes a familiar noise (video included above) to water bottles. He’s trying to figure out how to destroy it but he can’t 🤣 I’ve never bought a toy this durable. Got it on sale for like 4$..original price is a tad pricey at 14$ or whatever it was I don’t remember exact original price but honestly the quality makes up for it. You can buy 25 tennis balls a year they all get destroyed or buy this once.. it doesn’t bounce very well but it does just enough . If he wasn’t sleeping (you can see in the photo I woke him for the photo for my review ) I would video me throwing thr ball and him.playing but it’s 2am so we are being quiet lol. This is the LARGE SIZE . Think I will purchase the small one for my parents toy poodle or save it on my Christmas wishlist for him. 5 stars ,0 cons.
I tried to find something negative but I can’t! Which is a good thing!

Our pomsky has 6 of these balls. It is one of very few toys he can’t chew up. He loves the crinkle noise. We have to play ball every night before bed.

It was a bit too big for my Papillon puppy, it was also a lot harder than I expected. She loves crinkle stuffies, so I thought she’d like this, but getting it to crinkle was pretty difficult. Great for a dog over 15lbs, smaller pups I would skip it.

did not know what to leave. brand new out of box and inner plastic was already busted. looking at other pic they seem to be round with outer rubber toy. new one was being delivered free of charge. is this normal for inner plastic to be busted??? packaging was fine

I love this little ball! I ordered the size small for my 2 miniature schnauzer puppies. They are definitely in the chewing stage and are always looking for something to sink their teeth into! This toy has the best of everything for them. Its made of a durable rubber and the plastic seems to be thick too. It sounds like a plastic water bottle being crushed. So you’d expect it to be about that thickness but it’s actually thicker. They love chewing on it and you can see teeth marks in the plastic and the rubber. But they haven’t torn through it. It keeps them occupied for a little while. It doesn’t really bounce, so I wouldn’t get it if that’s what you’re hoping for. The small size fits just about in the palm of my hand. Perfect size for small puppies. If you have an adult small dog you might want to go for the medium. Its easy to clean, you just run it under some water and your good to go. Overall I’d say you get a fun toy for your pups that is a great price. And if they dont like it, your not out on your money. You can’t go wrong!

my new tiny chinese crested puppy loves this. she will bat it around, chase it and try to bite the parts she can get her teeth into. the blue crinkly thing inside is intriguing to her. she is too small to get a full on chomp on this to make it crunch, but, trying to, is so fun to watch. keeps her very busy. i bought one for my friends cat too. its about tennis ball sized for reference. the big GSD here also likes to pick it up and carry it around. he is no longer a chewer as he is going on 3 this fall. he used to destroy things like this. now he just wants to fetch and carry them. i would not give it to a strong chewing dog, they will have it apart in hours or less. this is for the dog who plays nicer. and great for a small puppy to teethe on. so far, she has not made a mark in it 😉

This was too tough for my miniature pinscher to crackel. I simply cut a slit into the ball, removed the hard interrior and am using it as a trat dispensing ball now, which she loves. Good lrice, soft material. Good for her puppy stage.

My 70 pound dog loves to play with water bottles. He likes how the plastic crackles. They don’t last long as his canines punch right through them. I had seen the soft toys that crackled but not a ball like this.
I have had JW products in the past. I bought one for my mom’s border collie and she used it until the dog passed away. Her current border collie has had it for about 5 years.
The rubber on this ball is tough. It’s not meant for a heavy chewer though. My dog likes to bite down on stuff; kinda flexing his jaw muscles, but he doesn’t get in there and chew with the molars to cut off chunks. I’d say this ball wouldn’t last long like that.
The inside plastic is thicker than cheap water bottles. It’s more like soft drink bottles. It gives a nice sound but doesn’t pop immediately.
The rubber is infused with a vanilla scent which is a nice touch.
Overall a good toy for dogs that like to fetch but aren’t heavy chewers. Would recommend.

Five paws up. Much chewy. So crackle.
Stelli2016 –
My pugs aren’t strong enough to push these balls and make them crackle. They are a good concept, they just need to be easier to push for smaller dogs to be able to play with. Perfect size for smaller dogs, when able to push it’s the perfect amount of crackle sound, to hard to really be chewable unless it’s a larger dog, not really bouceable, lightweight, I like the colors. Only recommended for larger dogs
