These pouches have a good flavor and I could smell them even when I first was opening the package. We steep them at room temperature in a gallon mason jar. They are good quality overall, but I think the mesh of the baggies have holes that are on the wider side because both times we used them, some of the stuff ended up at the bottom of the drink container. I think they do provide decent quality for what you get and they are very easy to use. We drink the tea cold and store the container in the fridge.

I’ve bought teas from Palais des Thés before, so I already knew I was in for something a bit more refined than your average grocery store tea. They’re a French tea house, and their blends always feel thoughtfully put together. You can tell they really care about the quality of their teas.
I was drawn to this particular tea since it can be brewed cold. I almost always drink hot tea, so I thought it’d be nice to try something different. Each pouch is extra-large and made from a muslin-style cloth, not the usual flimsy paper bags, which instantly makes the whole experience feel a little more elevated. There’s something about that soft gauze material that just feels luxe when you drop it into your pitcher.
The flavor itself is tropical, so it’s a mix of apple, pineapple, papaya, mango, peach, and a few floral and citrusy notes from things like lemongrass and rosehip. It’s not an in-your-face kind of flavor, though. I’d describe it as soft and subtle. If you’re expecting a punchy tea, this isn’t that. If, however, you enjoy more delicate flavors, there’s a gentle fruitiness that unfolds the longer you let it steep. The directions say 45 minutes in cold water, but I’ve found it benefits from a bit more time, kind of like when you make sun tea.
Each bag is meant for about 50 cL of water, which is roughly 16 ounces, so basically a pint. When they say it makes a carafe, it’s more of a personal carafe than a big family pitcher. You get four pouches in the pack, so whether that feels worth it will probably depend on how you usually drink your tea. For me, it’s more of a treat tea than an everyday thing.
All in all, it’s a lovely, refreshing option for warm days. I probably wouldn’t switch over completely since I still prefer hot tea most of the time. Although, I’ve enjoyed having something a little different. Of course, I’ll keep coming back to Palais des Thés, as a brand, because their teas just have a special, elevated feel that’s hard to find elsewhere.

The best iced tea. So smooth. Plus, I was able to brew three rounds with one tea bag. A winner!

The package says each bag makes one carafe of tea. A carafe is not a standard measurement, but they mean a 500ml carafe. Which is basically a pint. Maybe because this tea is made in France and here in America we like everything to be bigger (especially our food portions), one pint is one glass for one person.
The four bags will produce 1/2 gallon of tea. $12.50 for 1/2 gal of tea is very expensive, regardless of how tasty the tea might be.
And the tea is pretty tasty. Its a mild, tropical flavor that is sweet without any added sugar. I expected the flavor to be stronger seeing as the aroma from the tea bags is incredibly strong (and pleasant).
So I’m left rather disappointed that its a small amount of mild tasting tea.

From the moment I first cut open the pack, I knew this was going to be some quality tea. It’s extremely fragrant in the best possible way and dead simple to make. I went with the iced version and you just have to let the tea steep a bit longer in room temp water. The only issue I had as a silly American was I had to google what 50 cl (centiliters) was. That’s 2.11 cups btw. The tea was fantastic even without sugar though and it makes a good amount per bag. I really do feel like the price ($12.50 at the time of writing) is worth for four bags as this is some of the best tea I’ve had from a bag in a long time. Good stuff, Palais des Thés.

I recently tried the Palais des Thés Tropical Garden Iced Tea (the XL pouch version with four extra-large tea bags). The packaging mentions fruity flavors like mango, pineapple, papaya, and peach paired with subtle floral notes from rosehip and cornflower petals, and that’s exactly what I tasted. The tea brewed up a beautiful amber color that looks great in a glass pitcher. I filled a pitcher, let it steep at room temperature for about 45 minutes, chilled it, and the result was refreshingly juicy with a bright, lightly tart flavor. It tastes best cold, especially on warm days. I noticed the scent right away, but the flavor lived up to it too. To change it up, you can also steep this alongside a green tea bag. Considering the quality and size of the pouches, this tea offers a decent value for the price. Whether you sip it between meetings or serve it on the porch, this tea gives off relaxation like a tropical getaway.

I ordered the “Exotic Fruit’ version and received the correct variety although it is packaged as “Jardin Tropical”. This infusion contains tropical fruits (mango, pineapple, papaya) as well as a variety of other flavorings including apple, lemongrass, peach, and pear. Each of the 4 large cloth(?) bags is intended to make 1/2L (about 2 cups) of tisane. I followed the instructions using the recommended 45-minute brewing time. The resulting tea has a nice mix of fruity and, to a lesser extent, floral aromas reflecting the considerable variety of ingredients. The pale tea was less flavorful than expected and less than ideal, but it is a clean and nicely constructed mix. This is a high-quality tisane, but the price is a consideration for this product of France as you are only getting 8 cups (2 cups x 4 bags) of tisane per unit.

These bags only make around one to two glasses of ice tea each. Maybe it would be more if I drank ice tea in the same way as hot tea, but I don’t. Iced tea is a replacement for a glass of water in my book. Keeping that in mind, this tea is overpriced at around $13 for one package. The bags smell amazing, though, and the tea itself is very pleasant. Nice as a little splurge.
