My 13-year old black lab was diagnosed with liver dysfunction/disease/toxicity in late 2017. We’ve been giving her Denamarin tablets every day since. In January this year, the vet again ran more tests and said her liver issues are “off the chart” bad and she may have a month left (plus, my baby lost 12 lbs in five months). Knowing I’m not going to let her suffer while at the same time I’ll be crushed when she’s gone, I did some research and came across the possible usefulness of Milk Thistle. I decided to give it a try. In early February, the vet re-ran the tests and, while she’s still “off the charts” and did lose one more pound, there was improvement in all of her liver function numbers. Plus, I’m seeing more energy and more life back in my furbaby and her appetite is returning. As long as my baby wants to play and has an appetite, I’m calling this product a WIN.

UPDATE 4/19/2019: took my baby to the vet today for her annual shots and re-run her liver values. The vet is truly amazed at my baby’s #s. She’s still on the wrong side of normal but her #s are definitely improving. She is still losing a little weight but she does definitely eat better and she feels better. The vet does firmly believe my baby has cancer of some kind but mentioned how good she looks overall…even though she’s lost another pound since February. As long as my baby wants to eat, wants to play, and chases the cat, I’d say she’s still got life left to live.

Update #2 1/25/2020: Boo’s liver #s are dramatically improved. The vet is amazed and how much her liver function has improved. Unfortunately, a byproduct of poor liver function is Hepatocutaneous syndrome which has caused a very bad skin condition and is most likely fatal. We’re still giving her this Milk Thistle to keep her liver #s improving and keep her feeling OK internally. I’m glad we found this product and that it worked as great as it has; otherwise, I don’t think my baby would still be with us this year.

I used this to help my dog through a period where I believe she’d ingested a toxin. Her liver bloodwork was bad enough that one vet diagnosed terminal liver disease. Fortunately that diagnosis was wrong, and her liver values are back to normal. I noticed a distinct improvement in her symptoms when I started adding this to her food. I sought out milk thistle because I already knew it was a potent herb for the liver. I had no trouble getting her to eat this in her food, and every bottle has been well sealed with no leaks. I probably went through about 12-15 bottles (I have an 80 lb dog) over the last year. I recommend this product.

THIS WORKS! Please give it a try!
I normally don’t ever write reviews this long, but this is a must!!!

Long story short, my 14 year old Chihuahua mix who has a tiny heart murmur, but has never had any issues with her liver, had a blood test back in November 2024 to check how she was doing, and to our surprise her liver enzymes WERE SUPER HIGH…i mean in the 1,600 range. After the vet nurse called me to give me the results, she let me know that the vet was highly suggesting i take her to the ER. I let her know that she didn’t seem to be in discomfort and seemed pretty fine, so I would hold off on taking her to the vet, especially because I didn’t have the financial means to do so.

Hence, I had noticed a lot of peeing and lots of water intake, but nothing too alarming. What bothered me however, is that instead of them providing a suggestion for the time being, they are extremely quick to refer to the most expensive option, which for some people its financially okay, but not for the majority.

I had to go out of my way and ask them if they had a suggestion in the meantime or any medication i can try to give her to see if that helped. They put me on hold and the vet prescribed me Denamarin. When I went to go pick them up, they were the size of a nickel, almost close to a quarter size. I was instructed to give her half AND NOT CRUSH IT, but there was no way she was going to eat it, especially because she’s extremely picky. I tried researching on other alternatives and ordered a box of Nutramax Denamarin Liver Health Supplement for Small Dogs and Cats – with S-Adenosylmethionine (Same) and Silybin, 30 Tablets.

She’s roughly about 13 pounds and since the “small” option is up to 12 pounds, I would give her 2 blue pills. One in the morning and one in the evening. They were the size of a small advil and could easily be wrapped in a small piece of chicken. I would give it to her 1 hr before her actual meal.

I know that it states to be given on an empty stomach, but putting it in a piece of chicken was fine, no issue. After a few days, they wanted me to go back within a week to get more blood tests done, but i waited a few months instead because what was the point of going so soon. I was just going to pay the $220 fee and nothing was going to change within i week -__- ….its common sense to be honest lol.

After researching even more, I noticed one user say that they tried a combination of the Denamarin with Milk Thistle drops. I purchased this brand towards the end of November 2024 as well, and was adding it to her food after the 1 hr mark had passed of giving her the Denamarin.

After a month passed by, i started to notice that she was not peeing as much as she use to and the water intake normalized. However, she kept having diarrhea. I was concerned that probably the liver enzymes were still very high, which was the cause of the diarrhea. However, towards the beginning of January 2025, i stopped giving her the Denamarin and was only giving her the milk thistle drops.

The diarrhea seemed to have stopped and not only did her water intake normalize, but also her peeing.
I decided to take her for an updated blood test on February 17th and got the results back on February 20th.
HER LIVER ENZYMES SHOWED THEY HAD GONE DOWN FROM 1, 688 TO 133. Still a bit over the number window by like 4 numbers, BUT IT WAS AN ENORMOUS PROGRESS. I WAS SO HAPPY AND THANKFUL!

I had a follow up with the vet who was also stunned about the results and when i told her i was giving her milk thistle drops, you could tell she was not as excited (same issue when you mention to doctors about natural supplements).
I honestly don’t care what she thought, results were there and IT WORKS.

I’m not a professional of any sorts, but i try to research as much as possible and try things that can help my fur baby, and I’m thankful I did. If you have a fur baby that may have liver enzymes as high as mine and you don’t have the financial means to go to the ER vet, please give the combination of Milk thistle and Denamarin. Obviously if you see that one of the products may be causing issues, then stop immediate use. But you don’t lose anything with giving it a try! Even if it’s just the milk thistle drops! :””””D

This product was recommended to me by my vet after my Minpin had to have emergency splenectomy. He said the liver had to work double time after such a major event and to use 1 drop per pound of body weight once a day for 7-10 days, then wait 3 months and repeat. This cleanses toxins from the liver and encourages the growth of new liver cells. After about 3 days, my 10 year old dog was noticeably perkier and stronger on his feet. His prognosis after surgery was very poor, but in 2 weeks he will celebrate the 6th anniversary of that very major surgical event. I’m so happy for the wise advice of my vet. Turbo is 16.5 now and still active in small spurts. We’re so grateful to stil have him.

I was told our dog had high enzymes levels after taking him to our local vet , after a bit of research found milk thistle helps cats and dogs with liver toxins, so we had a choice to either try a natural approach or look at having him put to sleep , I was not going to allow such a strong decision to put him to sleep. So second opinion from another vet , and they seem to think it’s an infection so antibiotics helped with the infection, the second vet did agree his enzyme level was high and they could put him on a table but will be for life I spoke with the vet about the research on milk thistle and she agreed there is good results been heard about it , so after two weeks of antibiotics for infection and two weeks of milk thistle, his results are in the normal range . This product works for us and have and will recommend it to anyone to try it.

This product works , my 14 year old Cavoodle has cancer which is affecting his liver , with in a week of Max starting the Milk Thistle I noticed a big difference in him , his fits decreased, he was more active and the most important think he was way more happier, Its not going to cure his cancer but it will definitely help his symptoms and help his liver cope with the medication he has been started on to treat his cancer .
He is my soul mate , and I recommend this product .

Product is great! I have bought it many times for my 14 year old Bichon Poodle. We went to the vet and her liver levels were high, instead of doing tests and taking pills I wanted a natural remedy. Milk Thistle has truly helped her in regards to her health. She is more active, happy and her fur coat has brightened.

I bought this when my cat was in liver failure and the vet said there was nothing more they could do. After researching milk thistle I decided as a last ditch effort to give this to my dying cat. It started to work almost instantly and it bought her another 3 years of a happy healthy life.
I’m so grateful for products like these and have quite a few of their products for different things. They work!

My dog was diagnosed with critically high liver numbers and his prognosis was not good. I’ve been using Pet Wellbeing Milk Thistle for the past two months and my dog is now feeling better than he has ever been, which I attribute to this supplement and the power of prayer.

    THE REVIEWS WERE RIGHT!!!

I was encouraged by reading all the reviews, but was hesitant because my 5 year old Westie, MacGyver was declining after being diagnosed with gallbladder sludge in December 2025. He wouldn’t eat. After the vet recommended milk thistle the reviews said that most pups gained their appetite and energy back. And they were right!!! He had lost weight from 23 pounds down to 17.7 pounds in a matter of months. But just in one week, he’s gained 1 pound!! Thank you!! Must have for anyone who has dogs with liver or gallbladder problems!

The product itself is good quality & price but it is pretty messy. The yellow leaks out & stains easily so you have to be careful & wipe the product/bottle/dropper frequently.

How do you rate a product for a dog. Is it helping? She won’t say. She does seem to like the taste. It is pretty pricey, just hoping and praying it is helping.

Well, it didn’t kill my dog so that’s good! Haha. Admittedly I haven’t had his liver levels tested again yet BUT i was under the impression this vial would last a month, but it was delivered only 3/4ths of the way full and it only lasted 2.5 weeks. I have a 75lb Boxer, btw. Thought I was saving money this way but may have to go back to his Denamarin. 🙁

The Pet Wellbeing Milk Thistle for dogs is given daily to my small 7 year old Yorkie. I’ve been very pleased with this product. Approximately 3 years ago my female Yorkie started experiencing elevated labs. I read that liquid Milk Thistle can help reduce the results of elevated labs. The Pet Wellbeing Milk Thistle is helping. However, getting optimal results is a slow process. Dogs experiencing these elevated labs are quite common. However, my vet didn’t know what causes these irregular labs. Other than my little Yorkie having these elevated labs in only 1 category, she’s in excellent health. It’s upsetting to dog owners who are diligent in trying to find a cure to save their dogs life, when no cure is available. I appreciate Amazon making Pet Wellbeing Milk Thistle for Dogs available for customers to buy. Meme

I have been using this now for about 4 months. My dogs last liver panel (he has always had extremely high liver enzyme levels) went down significantly. Very happy with it. Just wish it came in a glass bottle. Plastic is so toxic. Especially for the price.

I got this for my senior dog who is battling liver issues! Hoping that it prolongs his life and helps heal his liver, heard that this is good for that issue. It’s easy to give him because it’s a liquid. So far so good!
