Best Furikake out there – and it has MSG and that’s just fine!
I bought this because of the island connection. I’m from Hawai’i. We use Furikake often and in just about anything you can think of!
Furikake over hot popcorn, steamed rice, French fries, even fruit! Ramen, sushi, avocado toast even shaved ice! Pictured here is our family favorite – furikake on avocado on seaweed squares. 😋
Funny thing is ppl believe when they see msg in a product it’s “bad”. If you would just do your research you’d find out that MSG is simply sodium (salt) + glutamate (also called glutamic acid, an amino acid). Glutamate is the most abundant amino acid found in nature. It’s formed within our bodies and is found in many protein foods.
It’s also what gives it the “Umami” flavor! Umami is known as the fifth taste (in addition to sour, sweet, salty and bitter). It balances and deepens flavor and contributes to the savory flavors of certain foods like yogurt, salad dressings, baked goods, chips, French fries, even beer!
The FDA, the World Health Organization and other food-regulating bodies around the world have debunked and dispelled claims it’s bad for you too so there ya go!
Just dash this on and enjoy it..! You won’t be disappointed. I also got what looks like the new “Zip Lock” version of their bulk package of Furikake so now you can just zip it up and take it out as needed. Very convenient.
The only problem I have with this product is wanting to eat it all the time! It’s ’Ono (delicious) to da max! Great job Pono!

This Nori Komi Furikake mix has some other light green leafy product besides nori in it that completely overpowers the mix. It doesn’t mention anything other than nori in the ingredients that could be these green leaves (that may just be seaweed cut or prepared a different way).
Either way, it tastes like chewing on grass clippings, and makes it completely inedible for me, unfortunately. Normal dark green nori vs light green leaves that taste like grass separated in picture.
I originally got this hoping to get a bulk version of the small 1.7 ounce containers of the Japanese label furikake mix, but it is nothing alike.

I absolutely love this product but pleaseeeee consider new packaging. It is SO hard to get the top off and it’s almost impossible to open it without accidentally sending it all over my kitchen since you need so much force to get the top off 😭

What’s up with the mediocre reviews? Must not understand what Furikake is. It’s supposed to be lightly sweet / salty and hv that UMAMI flavor! This product def has it!
MSG is not bad for you people, go do your research and you’ll see all the negative stigmas are unfounded and just plain not true. Can’t have amazing umami flavor without it and it’s derived from plants!
I got my jar and it was easy to open, just pull back the aluminum seal a quarter or halfway, fold it back and it won’t pour out to quickly. I like this bottle style personally. Just make sure you shake it up as the mix settles!
Flavors are on point and some ppl said it was raw sesame? Nope def toasted just lightly. The ingredients say rice bran oil so they prob start it in that and finish it by roasting lightly.. very flavorful! Nori balance is good and has very low sodium and sugar which I’m not worried about because it’s how Furikake is supposed to be but this product has less than others I’ve had. Overall a great product, packaging and I’ll buy it again. Didn’t see subscribe n save so hopefully they set that up so I can hv it on auto-order! Shaka brah!

Huge fan of this stuff now. Delicious. Fresh. A great addition to our fish and rice dinners. Highly recommend. I know it’s a little pricey but it lasts and a little goes a long way.

I am always looking for furikake that has lots of seaweed and sesame without fish, specifically to go on popcorn. This tasty version hit the spot perfectly. Try it with kettle corn and a bit of butter oil to help it stick if you like “hurricane” popcorn, and know that a little bit goes a long way — making this a great value for money.
