I also like that the pods, and the freshness bags they arrive in, are compostable. I appreciate that I can just discard the pod when I’m done without me having to dismantle it, and make a mess.
I generally like lighter roasts but this one is a delicious medium roast blend, without bitterness.

1st time I ordered the coffee was delicious! The second order I got did not taste the same. The coffee is bitter and stronger than the last batch. Inconsistent taste. I thought I was losing the taste for coffee but I have not. Tried others and came back to this one and do not like the taste. Very bitter. I loved it the first time I got it but it does not taste the same.

I guess I fat-fingered my order. I wanted to order the 80 count version of SFBC’s “Fog Chaser”, but wound up with 80 of these instead. I really liked the Fog Chaser more than any other k-cup I’d tred, but Organic Rainforest Blend (ORB) is even better! At first I was just going to send it back because the label was green, so I thought this meant it was decaf. I never drink decaf because I’m afraid I might get rickets or just drift off into a coma. But I decided to run one through the Kerug, and stockpile them for my health-freak friends if I didn’t like em.

Nope. This is high voltage +p pharmaceutics grade coffee. The weird part is how great it tastes.
I’m not a coffee nerd; just a guy who likes a rich cup of black coffee with a few extra amps in it. Amps it has. After a cup of ORB, I got into a conversation with my wife where I actually did most of the talking! But even if it didn’t peg out the caffeine meter, I’d say it still has about the best flavor of any coffee I’ve ever tried. I think the roast is medium to dark. In the cup it has a LOT of oil. It actually gets that ring of light brown foam around the edge like good espresso. It’s really sweet (for coffee), and I can’t imagine putting any sweetener in it. Hearty, and yet refined; not exactly Old West, or Cafe de Paris, but I can imagine a cowboy and a mime fighting over the last cup. … then again, maybe that’s just the caffeine talking.
NB: There is a lot of cool stuff on the box about the great stuff the company does; you know, if you have time for that sort of thing.
08/13/2016 UPDATE: Still great! The only problem I have is that the SFB pods breath, and if you leave them out for a day or two, the flavor tapers of considerably. I have one of those “pod-file” drawers under my Kerug and the SFB style pods dry out pretty quick. I like the drawer, but now I use it to line up my other pods. Dark Magic is the only other one I find tolerable, but it’s probably just the D&D overtones of the name. I keep a battalion of them lined up next to a squadron of Lipton unsweetened blacks while the SFB Rainforest troops are held in reserve at an undisclosed and hermetically sealed location.

This may possibly be the best K-cup coffee I’ve ever had. The difference in quality is so noticeable compared to other brands I have bought and I love that it is organic and that I’m limiting my microplastic consumption. The Rainforest Blend is strong, but not bitter and so very smooth. I love that the pods are packed in separate bags so that they stay fresh. I opened one of the bags to put some of them in my holder and was blasted in the face by the amazing smell. I actually went to bed smelling coffee all through my house.

This is more like it. These are the pods with the little net coffee pod on the bottom. We can use these in our Chulux pot. I wanted to move on from Java Love. I had liked it for years, but the cost has gone so high that I feel guilty buying it. This is a good organic coffee that costs 25 cents less a pod than my Java Love, so I will stick with it. I like it.

Rich and Delicious Coffee!
Have been buying another brand, and decided to try this SF Bay flavor. Big freeze in the deep South today, and made my first cup this morning. What a great surprise. Robust flavor that stood up to my excessive use of creamers, and one of the best cups of coffee I have had at home, in a long time! Will definitely be ordering more of the San Francisco Bay brand, in the future!

This was my go-to coffee for years. Best tasting organic coffee for the money. My new coffee maker uses multiple prongs rather than a single. These pods don’t hold up. They collapse and release grounds into the cup. I hope the manufacturer is aware of this.

I saw this on Amazon and decided to give it a shot. I’ve been looking for a delicious dark roast organic coffee that wasn’t bitter. My first shipment was scheduled to arrive on June 6, but to my surprise, arrived June 4. I opened up the box, and was pleased first off to see that the pods were packed into bags of 8, in order to keep them fresh longer. This was a plus, because no one wants stale coffee that has lost it’s ‘umph’, and I had wondered how I was going to manage to keep all of the pods fresh until I used them up. The exposed filter had concerned me, but with the amount of coffee I drink, they won’t have time to go stale opening one of the small bags at a time.
My curiosity about the coffee couldn’t stand any more, so I cut open one of the bags. The smell was amazing! Before I had even brewed my first cup, I knew this was going to be good. There was no ‘burnt’ smell to the coffee, just pleasant, rich aroma. Although I had already had my normal 4 cups for the day, I just had to have a cup immediately to see if it tasted as good as it smelled. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was quite impressed.
The coffee is rich and bold without the bitterness of many dark roasts. It’s very smooth and just begs you to drink more. I’m not an expert, so I won’t try to rate the acidity, flavor notes, or anything like that, but I am a life long coffee lover and 4 cup a day drinker, so for me to say that this coffee is impressive means that at least I have some experience with different tasting coffees and it has passed my personal tests. If you prefer a ‘weaker’ cup of coffee, you can even brew twice from the same pod into a larger travel mug. It’s good either way, I just personally prefer strong coffee.
I highly recommend this coffee for it’s flavor, it’s value, and on top of those, the fact that it’s organic and produces less waste than typical K-cups. If you are looking for a smooth, dark roast coffee, by all means give the San Francisco Bay Rainforest Blend a try. You’ll be glad you did.
