This toy has been the longest lasting toy our mini bernedoodle has had. Normally she bites thru anything we buy her. Stuffies are an absolute NO! This West Paw chew is a hard rubber & she loves to run around with it in her mouth. She misplaced her original one that we’d had since she was several months old & had to order a replacement. We play tuggy bone with it, as well as holding it for her to chew on it like she was eating corn on the cob, and it does not shed material. This is the only toy that she truly plays with that lasts. We get nearly 9 months of heavy daily use from these bones. We have spent hundreds of dollars on “Extreme Chewer” toys over time and she destroys them in no time flat (except for the “Kongs” but those are for treats and she doesn’t play with them after the treat is gone). She knows her “Green” bone and brings it to us and any visitors for play. She is a big dog, and this is just the right size for her. She likes to chew on the middle section as it is long enough that she can fully chew on the smaller diameter for stress relief without hitting the larger ends. The larger ends she uses when we play tuggy bone, she can get a good grip on the bone. She has used this size since she was 8 weeks old, and it has been a good fit. We always keep a new bone on hand, just in case something would happen to the bone currently in use. I know this is a long review for a dog bone, but this is really a good product.

the mini is the ‘xs’ size. Its roughly 5-6” in length and about an 1” or so in diameter in its widest parts. its expensive but it has a lifelong guarentee on it. Very well made, not a dent in it. useful for chewing, fetching and i think it floats although im not yet able to check that out. Very easy to clean, no smell no squeak just pure material! Great size for my 5kg dog. i think a 6kg dog and below will suit this size.

The first one we bought took our now 1-yo 23lbs corgi about a month to show any visible damage so it felt quite promising as a chew toy compared to the insanely hard nylabones he had. At some point, there were crevices that we sawed off for his own safety because he could really get his teeth deep into those. There does not seem to be a way to smooth out the little bumps and ridges however and he is such a persistent nibbler that he goes at it like eating corn off a cob.
Bought a second one as a replacement but this one lasted less than two weeks now that he knows exactly how to chew it -.-. And, he only ever chews on one end!! The same end where the WestPaw logo is engraved. Possibly the texture at this end allows for his teeth to get a better grip. This is marketed for aggressive chewers but sadly not good enough for our teenage terror so we probably will not get it again.
Also, it’s nice that WestPaw has a ‘close the loop’ program but wish that this could be as easy as contacting WestPaw for a free shipping label and dropping it off at the post office rather than having to make more of an effort as a consumer to package, label and pay for shipping to return to WestPaw for recycling.

I ordered the large size aqua-colored Hurley toy. It’s a really nice color and is a bit bigger than I figured it would be, but it’s still a great size for my medium-sized dog. My dog still prefers an antler chew over this toy, but what can you expect when this one is made of rubber? Both my dog and my parents’ teething four month old lab puppy played with it yesterday, and it still looks new, not a mark on it. I love that it’s dishwasher safe and made of safe material for my dog. So far, only a large Extreme Kong toy has stood up to my dog’s chewing (large elk antlers and sterilized beef bones last quite a while but are worn down over a few weeks and little pieces break off, which make me nervous), so I’ll be ecstatic if this toy holds up. If she ends up destroying it, I’ll update my review. So far, so good though. 🙂 At least I don’t have to worry about her breaking a tooth while chewing this.
5/29/15 Update –
Nearly a month after receiving it, this toy is still going strong and looks brand new. My dog hasn’t been able to put a dent in it, whatsoever. She likes playing “keep away” with it, fetch (although I don’t let her catch it — She only retrieves it after I throw it, since it’s so heavy), and even tries to play tug-o-war with it. lol I haven’t tested it’s ability to float, but my dog isn’t too fond of water, anyway. I also recommend the West Paw Tux toy, which I purchased in the size Large. Our next West Paw toy will either be the Tizzi or the Būmi. 🙂 I’m so glad I discovered this company! Most chew toys don’t last over a day or two with my Heeler mix. After seeing how well the Hurley and Tux have held up (comparable to Kong Exteme, in my opinion!) and knowing they’re made with safe materials, they’ve gained a customer for life! My dog is happy and so am I! Thank you, West Paw Design! 😀

Wir haben es jetzt seit einer Woche im Einsatz und er kaut super gern darauf, weil die Konsistenz nicht zu weich und nicht zu fest ist. Super, wenn der Hund sich mal selbst beschäftigen soll, aber auch zum gemeinsamen spielen. Der mittlere Teil ist schon etwas beschädigt, aber noch hält er gut.

Problem: 4 year old rescue pit bull mix with a serious need to chew and the ability to destroy any toy within minutes. This is compounded by the fact that she has bad teeth and literally chipped her tooth on an elk horn.
Solution: a soft yet strong chew toy.
I will say that the Hurley looked good, us easy to clean and easy to find! (All dog owners know that finding the darn chew toy is half the battle when the see their precious pup eyeing their brand new work shoes)
Sadly, this toy did NOT last a full night of chomping. That said, our little one has two chew modes Nervous and Night time. This is great for nervous chew sessions. I will stick with the dildo-like goughnuts maxx for nighttime chewing.
Bottom line: get this as a CHEWABLE toy not a chew toy. I make that distinction because this Hurley will last forever as a toy that can withstand the powerful jaws of your pit. It will not, however, last long during an all out chew-a-thon.

This is the second Hurley that I have bought for my dog (the first one was tragically lost somewhere in our backyard after a hard year of playing) and the zogoflex has been the only dog toys that she has not been able to destroy within seconds flat, despite her best efforts. I was sent a blue one instead of an orange one, but still a great toy that my dog absolutely loves. Also have one of the balls which is also great. For a dog whose other favourite toy is a plank of wood, the zogoflex products have really exceeded expectations in their durability!

This is the only chew toy I’ll let my bulldog have. He’s a heavy chewer, and other brands have broken down too easily, which made me nervous. This one is the only toy that consistently holds up.
I’ve bought several over time, and as soon as I see wear, I replace it — but it takes him a long time to get through the material. The shape is perfect for him to hold, and it’s truly his favorite toy. If you have a strong chewer, this is absolutely worth it for peace of mind and durability.

My dog isn’t an aggressive chewer but he can pull apart any cloth type toy. This dog bone is his favorite toy and very durable. His sharp teeth don’t leave a scratch when he chews on it. He loves it when I try to pull it out of his mouth to toss it. He growls like he’s a vicious dog instead of a furry sweet guy and races after it when it’s tossed. Great indoor exercise.

My dog went crazy for this toy the second I gave it to him.
He is an 8-month-old 7.5 pound Yorkie puppy, an aggressive chewer on the tail end of teething. He has shown no mercy to this toy and yet there’s not a dent in it. That’s why I got it because the material holds up to aggressive chewing. My puppy has confirmed that!
It keeps him entertained for a long time. It’s small enough to fit in his mouth for chewing but not so small that he would choke.
He loves to sit on the couch but is too young to jump off. This toy keeps him entertained on the couch for a long time so he stays put. He is totally focused on the toy. It is the perfect toy for a bored chewer. Works really well. And it’s super easy to clean.
Because it’s such a small toy, I’m only letting him use it when I’m nearby to supervise. But it has really held up to those busy teeth and Yorkie jaw.
It’s hard to find a durable toy that also holds his interest. This seems to check all the boxes. I didn’t even have to coat it with a treat taste to draw his interest.
I think the bone shape is very functional and attractive for him. He can go a solid 30 minutes chewing on it without getting bored or distracted, and that’s a long time for a Yorkie puppy.
I got this toy because I noticed he wanted to chew, but I was tired of other toys that came apart. This one seems like the right durable choice.

I believe that she can see the orange color one the best and she prefers toys that have orange in them. I am just ordering a new one and we had her last one for 2 1/2 years. Unfortunately, this toy barely survived 24hrs with my 15lb terrier. To be fair, he is the most freakishly aggressive chewer I’ve ever seen, and he will not stop until the toy is destroyed. It was very easy for him to hold with his paws, which aided its prompt dismemberment. He seemed to be having a ton of fun before he obliterated it. Three stars for effort. It’s not you, it’s us.

J’ai un chien qui adore mordre ses jouets, tirer, arracher. Et gros problème, malgré une excellente éducation je n’ai jamais pu lui apprendre à lâcher. Autrement dit je n’ai jamais pu lui laisser de jouet, trop de risque qu’il l’avale ! Eh bien avec ce jouet là, je peux le lui laisser une trentaine de minutes sans aucun problème, il se défoule, ne l’abîme pas (quelques trous par ci par là mais rien de dangereux : impossible d’arracher de la matière) et comme il glisse avec la salive du chien, je peux le récupérer très facilement et lui rendre : le chien comprend qu’il peut lâcher ET retrouver son jouet ensuite. Un très bon outil et de jeu et d’éducation ! Je recommande !

the mini is the ‘xs’ size. Its roughly 5-6” in length and about an 1” or so in diameter in its widest parts. its expensive but it has a lifelong guarentee on it. Very well made, not a dent in it. useful for chewing, fetching and i think it floats although im not yet able to check that out. Very easy to clean, no smell no squeak just pure material! Great size for my 5kg dog. i think a 6kg dog and below will suit this size.
