A transformation in human consciousness is taking place. And it’s generating a growing interest in how subtle elements of the human constitution play a part in the maintenance of our health and wellbeing. You Are a Frequency introduces a new paradigm for health and healing based on the whole person, not the physical body on which traditional medicine focuses. In this book, Debbie Sellwood describes the human being’s various energy systems, indicating that everything – animal, vegetable and mineral – has its own unique vibration. She explains how these energy bodies influence our health and wellbeing, that the physical body is a medium for the consciousness of the energy bodies. You Are a Frequency explains that how we perceive and react to life events determine what experiences we attract into our lives, including health. Our reactions also impact the frequency of our vibrations, and by raising our vibrations, we become more empowered, able to take responsibility for ourselves. It is the author’s belief that understanding ourselves as energetic beings will ultimately inspire a future health paradigm and lead to the transformation of the medical system. This book will appeal to the increasing number of people who are aware of a spiritual component to their existence, who want to understand who they really are, and their potential, at a more holistic level. The times in which we live are causing us to acknowledge that there is more to life, and to ourselves, than meets the eye – you are more than you think!

YOU ARE A FREQUENCY by Debbie Ann Sellwood is passionately written, deeply researched, and tremendously thoughtful. Throughout her explanations of uncommon wisdom and perspectives, I deep enjoyed being pushed beyond my daily assumptions to wonder more deeply about our connections with one another and the Collective Unconscious. While the organization and presentation were erratic in places, her shining voice of reason in a defiantly rigid healthcare culture kept me going. I had to know what else she had to share — if you are at all open to different points of view on energy, life, and wellbeing, give this book a read. I received a copy of this book and these thoughts are my own, unbiased opinions.

This is definitely a book for a specific audience. If you are already a person who believes in the mind/body/spirit connection, and the impact of vibrational energy, you will most likely enjoy this thoroughly researched treatise. If you are a skeptic, there is a little here that will likely convince you to believe. Personally, I am a member of the former group so the information in this book deeply resonated for me. Because of the volume of material, I also feel like this is a book that could benefit from multiple rereads and I plan to do just that. I look forward to purchasing a hardcopy to keep on my bookshelf for reference.
I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for access to a digital ARC. My honest review is my own opinion.

I found this book to be a comprehensive and easy read. As such I would recommend it to anyone trying to understand who they truly are spiritually and how our thoughts and beliefs have a major impact upon their health. Debbie backs up her claims and statements with solid scientific evidence that we are energy which clearly shows how a new paradigm in health care is long overdue.

As Debbie explains in her intro, quoting Caroline Myss,“Evaluating our beliefs is a spiritual and biological necessity”. She is talking about fundamental beliefs in realising what we human beings actually are. We need to realise that we are not only physical but energetic beings. This book explores how ‘by changing our consciousness we can move beyond our lower nature to constructively impact our well being’.
It is an assured contribution to one of the most important and necessary revolutions in the 21st century which we need – in medicine – from reliance on pills with their inevitable side-effects to the growth in the ability to perceive our subtle energy systems.

This book, on the energy fields of human beings, discussed some interesting ideas. The author referred to an impressive number of scientific studies to support her theories. While much, much more research needs to be done in this area, this book was thought-provoking. However, she lost me on the chakras. Chakras are part of ancient Hindu thought, but they are not part of science. At this point, the book felt like the same old yoga books, instead of an effort to actually think of energy fields in terms of modern science.
