After a strenuous workout, this stuff, which looks like very large granules of pink Himalayan salt, helps the muscles feel looser. It also has a scent like you would expect a hippie or health food store to have. The longer you soak, the more you feel the light to moderate Icy Hot sort of effect, which I’m guessing is from the peppermint oil in the ingredients. The package has a recommendation about ratio of product to water, advising 1-2 cups in a bathtub. I use a 1 cup measuring spoon, fill it, drop it in the water, and fill it about halfway again but unpacked, so I’m probably using 1 1/4 cups, not all the way to the 2 cup limit.
I sparingly do this kind of stuff, but I don’t remember epsom salt by itself being as slippery as this product. I’m guessing the addition of the peppermint and pink peppercorn oils and other ingredients contribute to the EXTREME slipperiness. You can fall and hurt yourself, so make sure when you’re going into the tub with the dissolved stuff or getting out of it, you hold on to a rail or the side of your tub, and you’ll want to soap off and rinse the tub floor after showering everything off. Seriously, VERY SLIPPERY – the package doesn’t say anything about this in the warning section. Beware.
Now back to the good stuff – this is something that feels calming to use, and you’ll feel the effect for a while afterwards – muscles warm/cool (again probably due to the peppermint oil), and a relaxed feeling. I wouldn’t recommend this at the start of a workday, just like I wouldn’t recommend putting Icy Hot or Ben-Gay all over your body at the start of such a day. This is due to the way it makes you feel in your clothes – your body temperature just feels sort of off; and that aroma is not the most appealing to be carrying around in my opinion.
So, to recap – great product to use after a hard workout, but be careful getting in/out of the tub, and maybe don’t use it before the start of a day at the office.

As a former long-distance runner and avid hiker, a good Epson soak can work miracles on muscle soreness. I was excited to try this product because I’m always looking for something to help keep us pain free when training. I like the inclusion of arnica and magnesium in these salts, but the peppermint really came on very strong for me. I’m sensitive to scents sometimes and this one was just over the top for me, sadly. The moisture content of the salts is something I’m not used to, so not sure how well they’ll hold up after opening. All in all, I think a more traditional soak is a better fit for me, but I was happy to try this one.

This bath salt was very relaxing to use! It smells great all throughout the bath, and dissolves fairly quickly, but leaves a little something in the water that makes me feel slick. These bath salts may be a little pricey, but it is so nice to spoil myself once in awhile and just relax and destress, so I feel these are totally worth it.

The Zensah Muscle Recovery Bath Soak has been a great addition to my recovery routine. After long runs and tough workouts, I’ve used a couple of scoops in warm water and it makes a noticeable difference in how my muscles feel afterward. The blend of magnesium and Epsom salt helps with soreness, and the added arnica gives it an extra soothing quality.
The peppermint scent is strong but refreshing, it really opens up the senses and makes the soak feel energizing as well as relaxing. I like that it doesn’t leave any residue in the tub, and the 32 oz bag is a good size that lasts several uses.
It’s definitely more of a treat than an everyday staple, but if you’re an athlete or just deal with a lot of muscle fatigue, this soak feels both restorative and relaxing. It’s one of those small things that makes recovery more enjoyable and effective.

This soak is decent but overpriced. It smells good but the scent is overpowering for me. I have to use so little of it tolerate the fragrance that I’m not sure I’m getting much benefit from the minerals in the soak. I also prefer more natural items and this contains polysorbate 80, which is generally not harmful in topical items but I prefer to avoid it. A muscle soak is meant to penetrate your skin and I wish this item only had ingredients I want absorbed into my body. There are better muscle soaks out there for less money. This one is pretty expensive for what it is. If you don’t mind the ingredients and can tolerate (or are specifically preferring) a very strong smell, this might be a good option for you.

This is an *awesome* but, admittedly, very strong scent. The arnica I think is very strong, because its stronger than most bath salts I’ve used in the past. I love soaking my feet in this after a long, exhausting day. But be careful, because this stuff WILL leave a pink residue on your skin that can be a pain to get off unless you’re jumping right in the shower and scrubbing. Overall, great product, would get again!
